Yesterday's FA Cup win by Leicester City means that CPFC, Queens Park, Birmingham City and Watford are now the clubs with most FA Cup Final appearances without having won the competition ie two appearances.

I must admit that my main thought on watching the final whistle of Cup Final this morning (I was at work yesterday afternoon) was "if only...." regarding both 1990 and 2016. Why couldn't WE have nicked just one of those finals?

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

Fergie time in the 1st, allowing that Welsh tw@t to equalise(sorry all our Welsh supporters, no offence intended), followed by the untimely death of Paul Nixon during the replay.

Clatterfcuk for the 2nd.

You and I both know you don't mean that.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

So true, we caught them at either end of the Fergie dominance years and we still couldn’t beat them

Yes, why indeed, I was thinking how different things could have been if we had won in 1990, team stay together after, we could have been where Leicester are today at least, proper stadium, could have had a good european cup run, have to blame big club bias for the second final. Clattenbergs hug with sir alex should have got him banned from the game, and the media should have been all over it, thank god for the video tec now, yesterdays final was a prime example of how a glam club would prosper, till the var put a stop to it. It might not always work in our favour but the alternative is the big glam clubs winning everything, the camera doesn"t lie and the big clubs don"t like it!

Indeed, and even worse, it was said that if we beat them the first time Fergie would have been sacked and history would have been different, although we probably wouldn"t have been involved so it doesn"t really matter .

Can I just say that Paul Nixon was killed in the 95 semi final, and we boycotted the replay in disgust. I was at the match (obviously not the replay). We must have had 10-20k there. A fair few on here must have been there. I think it was Villa Park again but can't be sure. Pretty sure it was the Midlands.

Yes, both at Villa park, I was at the first game, it"s easy to forget we boycotted the replay, although not Paul Nixon, and Keanes intent on Southgate showed they were up for it,professionalism at its worst. I seem to remember we took about 4000 to the replay, although not there myself.

I recall Mark Hughes' equaliser in 1990 having been about 7 minutes from the end, so we can't blame Fergie Time for that one. It was naive defending, as was the case in 2016 when we should have taken it in turns to kick Rooney up in the air for the last 12 minutes. As someone else has posted, the death of Paul Nixon was at an original semi-final tie.

Yes, always think it must play on Punches mind that after scoring the goal, he could have taken Rooney out on the halfway line, on the lead up to the equaliser, hindsight is a wonderful thing of course, he might have got carded, but who knows.
