Fair enough, maybe that was too direct. He's definitely a survivor. He's manage to find countless ways negotiate the hostile politics of football for 4 decades, which is a huge personal achievement. Whilst other claims are questionable, there's no flawd rhetoric and no need for any PR spin to prove that point. The lengths he's gone to in order to stay in the game have proved it. From one of his harshest critics, I'll gladly give him that accolade. Truly impressive, on a personal level. Well done Mr Hodgson, you can be very proud of yourself.
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

To be honest I think a lot of the responses to you were a bit hysterical and typical crass football discussion board responses given the content of your post. This is a board for debating and some will not like what others post. You have your view which I agree with in part but not all. To sum up for me, nice bloke, competent manager, loved the fact that he was a Palace fan but ultimately pleased that he has decided to call it a day. Bring on the new guy and hopefully some money to back him. There are ways to debate and discuss and outright insults in a thread where people are paying their respects to a manager that has worked wonders for this club bearing in mind the lack of investment and horrific injury record is not the way to do it. Posting "Announcing he's jumping ship before the crowd turns on him against Arsenal. Typical cowardice by Teflon Roy. Great news for football in England." just shows a complete and utter lack of class from the poster whilst you have similar views but managed to make your feelings known without resorting to childish insults. It's a shame that the mods felt it necessary to dish out yellow cards at a time when it was obviously an emotional time and certain individuals could have chosen their words a little more wisely I suppose

How did you think your response would work out for you? Is this your first day on the internet?

I have often moaned at our tactics and I started a thread on Sunday, which was badly worded, for which I deservedly got criticised. I apologised and will again. I think Roy has done a great job with what he had at his disposal and I genuinely had tears in my eyes last night, listening to his speech. He loves the club and I wish him all the best.

Roy is highly respected for his coaching ability and is adored in Sweden, Switzerland and Milan. Not sure his management had a detrimental effect on Inter or the Swiss national team. I think you could at least acknowledge this and give credit where credit is due, even if you don’t like him

I have to say the contrast between both big sam and roy last night has been massive! Guard of honour by both sets of players. dignified in defeat and level head. the players and football world completely respect roy. And then big sam...just have to watch his interviews from last night to know the difference.

I stand by my carefully chosen words. How did you think your response would work out for you? Is this your first day on the internet? I think you are the one that can't control your emotions as demonstrated by the personal attacks that you have made on Roy Hodgson these past few months. They go beyond a dislike of his style of play etc., that most on here complain about. Your comments are generally spiteful, irrelevant and unpleasant. You also like to play fast and loose with actual facts when they don't suit your anti Hodgson agenda. Now I know for a FACT that Roy is held in the highest esteem in Finland, Switzerland and at Fulham. I also understand that extends to Inter, West Brom and Malmo. So maybe you care to provide me with your list of clubs that he managed to their detriment ? Clearly the show of gratitude and emotion shown by both the fans and the club are viewed by you as a PR exercise. Based upon what I don't know, other than again, it doesn't suit your agenda. Now I know that you welcome honesty, so I'm going to say that if other posters have called you a '' knobhead / prick / very sad person '' then I tend to agree with them.

Jeeagles, please stop, you are making yourself look a bit of an idiot You are not down the pub with your mates where emotion and pride can sometimes take over in arguments/discussions. You can just take a breath and let it go You and countless others have repeated your thoughts on Roy over and over again on the numerous Roy in/out posts, so do you really think as Midlands has said that in a thread where people are paying their respects to a manager, that you need to attack Roy? On a thread where other posters who were Anti Roy, have come out and acknowledged the great job Roy has done, then it shows a real lack of class and judgement to carry on as you are doing You don't have to agree with the sentiments but can't you just let it go and look forward to a new manager?
