You're absolutely right.
With Eze injured and tomorrow's fixture being a dead rubber, I'd rest him until next season.

I'm not overly concerned with any one on the list. But we need a squad. Each one will cost at least £20m to replace.

We may be in a position of seeing who wants to re-sign and then go from there.

Benteke 9 goals and 1 assist from 21 starts (plus that Brighton goal off the bench and yet half the people on here want to get rid of him. Wilf's return since New Year is unimpressive just 3 goals and 0 assists in 12 starts. However, he hasn't seemed quite right since his injury in the Newcastle game.

He scored against Villa. He's also been on the wing a bit more. Our points ratio playing 4-5-1 is much better than 4-4-2.

Andros = Keep... no replacement options especially due to eze injury

Sakho = Release... Donkey & injured

Clyne/ Ward = Keep 1 (2nd most important summer signing)

Jim Macs= keep both if available at a fair wage

Cahill = Keep... old but gold

Dann= Release... legs have gone

Wayne = Release... 3rd choice

Henderson = Release... have an U23 as a sub in cup ties

Kelly/ Wickham = Release... Sick notes

Steve Parish will be choking on his protein shake reading comments like these.
His two Liverpool mega-buys (Benteke £30m, Sakho £27m) need to be bombed out according to fans.
Let's be honest, getting the chequebook out has been a disaster, particularly bailing out Liverpool's mistakes (see Ibe and Solanki at Bournemouth).
So don't be surprised if the club are careful about spending big because the owners have been financially killed when they dare to do this.

A big 6 club will spend £50m on a player and if it doesn't work out then rinse and repeat. Almost every player we sign has to be a success and if they are not there is no guarantee we will replace them quickly.

The players that are out of contract in the summer cease to become our players, so they are all free agents.
The club will use this to reduce the wage bill as it will become a market where the players without contracts will be worried about their futures.
I would be very surprised if we paid any transfer fees this summer because there will be a pool of players from the other clubs who need a contract.
Players who have performed well will take the best offer from whatever club and we could lose players that we want to keep because they have been offered better contracts elsewhere.
So except for Zaha and a few others with contracts I expect that we could start next season unrecognisable to todays team. Which underlines the reason why the timing of Roys departure was ineviatable.
So the only players that I would keep are the ones with contracts.

They would both be at the top of my list to “ship out”..!!

If you're saying ward then you haven't watched any games this season, he's been solid.

In addition to these players I'd resign Clyne(& hope NF actually gets fit) promote Webber up from U23's, Cahill, Kelly, promote Hannam from U23's, Townsend, we have Mateta for next season on loan Shlupp, also hope some of the kids come good ie Rak-Sakyi.

They types of clubs likely to want our out-of-contract players are unlikely to be offering anything like what we might offer given that we currently overpay those players. Benteke, given his current form, might attract serious attention elsewhere, but he knows that he's the no. 1 striker here and the club are unlikely to be forking out for a replacement. Interesting times ahead, though.

RELEASE:

Sakho- always injured; now slow and not effective

Ward- great servant but now a defensive liability

McCarthy- injured a lot- doesn't influence the game enough

Dann - now absolutely awful- very slow

Hennessey - not used and a third choice now

Wickham - who is he?

Kelly- hasn't had a good run due to injuries

RETAIN:

Benteke- has improved

Schlupp- key player

PVA- skilful going forward

McArthur- work rate excellent

Cahill- experienced - we need that, even though he can't play every game

Townsend- we will need him as Eze is injured for quite a while

Mateta- not had a proper run, but he does look slow

while i love Cahill, i reckon he will now only be effective for 65 minutes per game, or to come on later as a Sub.

at nearly 36, he is the oldest man in our squad.

and to echo the silence of everybody above, Luka is now only a shadow of his former self.
