I would love to sit down with Roy and understand why, with 10 mins to go and losing 2-0 he thinks that bringing on a centre back and a left back is a good tactical choice. I cannot fathom the logic.

He doesn't like salad.

I think PVA will play the staring role in any Sixth Sense prequel.
He sees dead people!
That’s the only explanation for who he’s passing to!

Yes fully agree, he gets caught out a lot on wide balls, his positioning is poor and he is much to narrow, he lacks and physicality and pace to be a competent wing back at this time, hopefully as you say Ferguson may solve that problem and hopefully Mitchell will improve with experience but at the moment he is far from the standard required in PL at this time!

The system requires him to be. Hodgson tends to want his teams to keep it narrow to try and stop the oppo playing through the middle. Not Mitchell's fault, nor Ward's on the other side.

I fully agree and whilst there is some potential there I’m sure, he is some way off Premier League standard at the moment. He is beaten far too easily, far too often.

It is a concern because with Ward being past it and our aged centre backs , we realistically need to upgrade the whole back four.

Hopefully when fit, Ferguson will be one of the pieces in the jigsaw.

Fully disagree.
I must have been Watching a different game clearly.
Love to see the highlights of every occasion they faced up and see how often Salah scored.. oh zero goals.

Mitchell had many blocks on his shots.
Even when Trent was juggling it round him he got back into a great position and shielded the ball competently.

I am more than happy for Mitchell being the LB all next season thanks

Unless we can sign Paolo maldini when he was 20 via some sort of cloning breakthrough!

Townsend discussed Palace’s defeat at Anfield, which they started quickly, creating several goalscoring opportunities.

“We gave it a real go,” he said

Did you? Did you really !!

I'm so Palace I don't even know it

Education from doombear thanks

Would Roy really play someone who was not competent..!

I dunno what some people watch for 37 games to not know how our defensive lines up in relation to the width of a pitch

Or maybe we would have more success playing a wide width and allowing Liverpool to play all their neat one twos in the middle of the pitch 12 yards away from our goal..

I have to disagree with you there. I thought he handled him pretty well down that side. Salah found more space when he cut inside but Mitchell has matured and I thought he was ok today. And remember, it is Mo Salah. He's a handfull for anyone.

Agree. With you, thought Mitchell did well against Salah. Wilf was non existent though. I really don’t see a top top team paying us and giving him 120k a week.
