Hannam looks the closest to the first team. A bit inconsistent in possession but a few quality deliveries and he really gets about.

Hard to be too sure about the CBs because 3 on 1 they shouldn't be too troubled, but Baghelou looked assured and got his head on a lot.

Rak-Sakyi is only 18 so still has a lot of development time, even at U23s, and I'd be very surprised to see him around the first team next year. Flashes of his potential though.

Wasn't the prettiest game but they worked hard and have earned themselves a great test against some serious players next year. They'll be up against the Chelsea, City etc. players coming back from injury - players who will be playing in a Champions League final this week. Great opportunity for them.

We were much better in the second half.
Reece Hannam was particularly impressive, lost count the number of tackles he won and got up and down the pitch well in the second half. Can’t be far away from first team level.

Jay-Rich Baghelou has also impressed me, very solid at e back although lucky not to concede a pen for handball in the dying seconds.

Also liked the look of Rob Street.
Some talented youngsters, who will hopefully be aided by the u18s coming through

Last evening was my first look at the U23 great result. What I was surprised to see was them playing with five at the back three central defenders and two full backs who were not in any way wing backs. How does this prepare the players for first team football. Number 7 (Hannam I think) put in some great tackles but never seemed sure when to go forward. At times when Palace were on the offensive you could see five Palace players on the half way line looking on.

Just back from the game. Not sure how many were there c 3000 but we have the boys tremendous support. Well done lads and it’s great to see a Palace team lifting a trophy at Selhurst!!

I think they said it was 2700. Great support.
My one criticism of the support was, we were there to cheer on the U23 against Sunderland, we did not need to hear a constant barrage of abuse aimed at Lewis Dunk and Brighton. There is a time and a place and IMO last night was not it

Well done, lads of Under-18 & 23! Hopefully, our new manager will seriously give some of the youngsters a chance. Think maybe the lack of interest from Hodgson regarding the Academy, was a thing Parish had in mind when parting with Roy.

Also playing in a tougher league should better prepare them for the first team, depending on the new manager of course, as you say.

It was a great result anyway.

Good call if they can't hack it there then they are not ready for the first team.

after we scored the winning pen, the players ran over to the corner of the main stand and celebrated with a bunch of much younger kids, who all seemed to be in the same age bracket and wearing the same clothes - was this pure coincidence or did the team celebrate with e.g. one of the younger academy groups - there seemed to be some form of acquaintance between the two groups. Of course it could just have been where they ended but but if it was a gesture to a younger age group then it's a lovely touch of maturity from the U23 to do something like that for the next generation coming through, when they're in their relative infancy themselves

It will be good experience for them but I fear they will struggle but so pleased for them, seem like a close knit bunch

Morning all . . .

Well now, what a result, what a night, what a game. Ok, the game wernt pretty, BUT, who cares, we won. Well done the crowd, they really lifted the lads, you could see it, especially in ET. As for the Pens, nervy, but, imo, i dont think the lads that took them were that fazed, its as if Shaun Derry had practised them prior to the game, just incase.

Highlights to follow. Special thanks to ASCPFC for running comms. One 'sour' note WTF was all that Dunk & Br1-3ton crap about l/n? Totally uncalled for & couldve spoilt a damm good evening. Idiots!

One I didn't call out last night and should have - I thought Ollie Webber had a really good game in goal. A couple of smart saves and talked well throughout the game to stop the defence dropping deep. There were a couple of awkward crosses in the first half that could have been dealt with better, but all in all he showed promise.
