He's unhappy and we should bite any teams hand off for £40m but why would he move to a team not in the ECL?

Given he has publicly stated the move would be to win trophies it would make no sense. Everton still look well off challenging even for CL football, while the odds of them winning the FA Cup look pretty slim. With Spurs it depends on who the next manager is and whether they keep Kane. Having said that, would Levy even pay £40m for a player who is soon to turn 29 and who seemingly is not at the peak of his powers? Last summer Wilf was fairly quiet, but he has made his intentions clear early doors this summer. He knows this is very likely his last chance for a big move and I think he could end up just accepting a bigger club than Palace, possibly with a bit more money, even if they're not really going to win anything eg Everton. I've loved having him at Palace, but if he wants to go then I hope Parish just finds the best deal he can as holding him against his will can't be good for team morale. There is no doubt he'll leave a big hole, but it is becoming increasingly hard to really support a player who seems to lack any joy when he or anyone else scores. I miss the Wilf who exploded with joy when he scored and who seemed to delight in traumatising defenders; that player isn't with us any more. He'll still go down as probably our best player in the modern era and I just hope if he does get his move it doesn't end in tears.

£40 million is too little for him. We should not even consider it. He is worth more to us for the 2 years left on his contract particularly after Man U have taken their slice. The injury to Eze also needs to be considered I think Arsenal or Chelsea are only possibility in Uk as they have fringe players who would interest us and improve us as a team. I feel that if he does go it will be as part of a player swap with at least 2 possibly 3 players coming our way (possibly one of these on loan). Players like Willock, Maitland-Niles, Nelson possibly even Pepe (he has not performed at a level of a £70 million player and is a Zaha replacement so may be used as a make weight)Loftus-Cheek,Ampadu,Gallagher,Ugbo even Abraham as his face does not fit with the new manager

I just can't see anyone coming in for him, offering him his current salary and game time. He goes to an English club who'll win nothing (Everton), someone abroad who'll win stuff but we won't play (PSG etc.), or someone abroad where he'll play and win stuff but get paid less (e.g. Galatasaray). I don't see him getting into a team that's likely to win major trophies. He scored 7 goals with 2 assists in his first 9 games this season, but only 4 goals with 0 assists in the following 21. The way Gabriel chased him down at the end of the Arsenal game for the one on one was the first alarm bell I've ever seen of 'is Zaha on the decline?'. I think I'd take £40m, I'd just be surprised if anyone actually offered it.

As for Pepe, he's come good in recent months and is certainly performing far better than Wilf. Arsenal will not be letting him go in a hurry. Personally, I'd be delighted if someone came in and offered £40m for him, I really would and then we can move on. However, you may be right in saying that the most likely deal would involve a player swap.

He should have asked if he could have turned out for the u23s last night. He would of lifted a trophy at the home of football

Wilf is in for a disappointing summer unless we are willing to take a crazy low price for him. And I mean sub £15m. He's 29 in November and his ship sailed when he signed the 5 year contract. One injury and you are pretty much paying for nothing.
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |
