Guy waffles on about equality and then suggests that there aren't successful or unsuccessful cultures.

In 2015 Forbes listed 18 of the top 50 billionaires in the world as Jewish yet they there are roughly 15 million Jews in the world, making them a tiny percent of the world's population.

In the US they make up a bit over 2 percent of the population yet in the US in 2010 30 in the richest 100 Americans were Jewish.

Yet it's anti-Semitic trope to label Jewish people as ‘successful’? Or recognise their disproportionate numbers in high earning industries and CEOs for example?....We could look at Nobel prizes as a percent but this is completely unserious.

It's like a degree in nonsense language. Whatever Dan wants to be true is true.

I bored with it.

Again you seem to wilfully miss my point and read/think whatever you want to. Yes, some cultures have more successful people from within them than others and some are more low achieving than others. But you can’t say someone is Jewish therefore they are rich/successful nor can you say someone is black therefore they will be in a gang.

If you speak to Jewish people you’ll realise that they hate this tag. It means people think they are a legitimate target. David Baddiel’s recent book is really good on it.

It’s just another form of lazy stereotyping, albeit people think it a positive one so it’s fine.

Dan says you shouldn't imply all Jews were successful (which wasn't suggested)....then goes on to say that Jewish people hate being called successful.

Oh hum.

It’s extremely lazy to lump entire cultures as ‘successful’ or ‘not successful’ and entirely unhelpful. It’s also a common anti-Semitic trope to label Jewish people as ‘successful’ and by virtue in charge of various institutions and a ‘fair target’ for abuse (which is where the left of Labour Party continue to be stunningly blind on).

There are so many reasons as to why someone is ‘successful’ or not. It’s not defined by culture alone - it can be a factor but it is far from the only one. I know it makes it easier for you to try and understand it but you have to dig deeper than that.

Why is it lazy, western culture has been very successful, why else does most of the world want to move here.

Dan H , Let's make it easy, who is more successful Europe or Africa, when it comes to , health, economy and education.
I'm going to guess you say Africa.

I was initially responding to the comment ‘Jewish people are known to be successful’.

Spend some time talking to Jewish people/read some stuff by Jewish writers on the stereotypical perception and make your own mind up.

Europe - why do you reckon that is Danny? Know your history? You’re opening a massive can of worms if you want to delve into Europe’s interference in Africa over the centuries.

So my opinion on whether the Jewish culture is successful or not should be informed by the opinions of Jews themselves.

Hmmmm...

Stirling prooved the Jewish community are high achievers for a small % of population and then you move the topic to what Jewish people don't like. WHY? Why do you always bring up offence?

I think if the West hadn't gone there they would still be living in huts. I saw a you tube video from a minister, now deleted obviously stating just this. Racist black bloke I guess.

To a large extent, yes. There’s a good example in the not so distant past that highlights what can happen when someone thinks ‘successful’ Jews are running all the institutions and working against the interests of the country. Would recommend reading up on it as it might help you understand why it’s an unhelpful label.

And the answer is because we were more advanced which = be more successful.
