we're now best priced 5/2 third favourites to go down, we were 5 or 6/1 a week or two ago when I last looked. Folks have cottoned on.

BUT can we realistically expect them to become injury free? I suppose we have to pass that one over to our medical people. How often can a player's body get injured and repaired and not become more susceptible to further injuries? I don't know. I'll leave that to fans with the medical knowledge. BUT, if there is hope for these two players and if we could retain them on some form of a pay as they play basis then I wouldn't rule that out. Cheers doombear - that's all I'm saying. MAY be worth keeping on specific terms. With a full preseason under their belt. It's not as if we've got an excess of quality players to choose from either.

Wow. Lots to disagree with here. Where do I begin.
Edited by sprites (24 May 2021 4.17am) You agreed with a lot of what I said. The major disagreements: Zaha - My god, he's the best player we've ever had. Yes, he's petulant and annoying at times. At the same time, he's usually instrumental in any game we win. Getting rid of match winning talent, when we literally have NO ONE else, because we don't like his "attitude" is madness. Benteke - He's played under the same manager and system for years. He could never score a goal, under any circumstance. Now, with his contract up, he finally shows some interest in scoring goals. And you say it's unreasonable to question his motivation? Maybe he will be good next year, but he stole a living from us for so long, I would never offer him anything other than a reduced one year contract, where he has to prove it every year. Mateta: You say why keep him...He scored a dramatic important goal in one of the few minutes he played for us all season. I agree that he may not be a star player. We have no idea, because Roy stubbornly refused to play him. At best, you can say he made a great impression with minimal playing time. At worst, you can say that we have no idea what kind of player he is thanks to Roy's stupid stubbornness.

Just reading this thread makes you realise that Parish and Freedman won't be getting much of summer holiday this year if we are going to stay in the EPL

I suppose to counter once more, I'd say: Zaha - it's not just his attitude. He simply hasn't played very well recently. You can count the number of games on one hand. Doesn't go past players anymore. Doesn't win many penalties. Simply gets the ball, passes it back. But more important than anything, he doesn't want to be here. All the talent in the world can't replace passion and hunger for the cause. Benteke - As I've said, I just don't buy the playing for a contract thing. My take is he's finally got some confidence now and we're actually putting crosses in the box. Mateta - yeah fair enough. Wouldn't be opposed to keeping him on and seeing what's he's got.

Benteke has mentioned in a recent interview he is injury free now. I think from memory he had a foot injury. He is covering a lot more ground now both attacking and defensively and would be great if he signs a new contract.

Zaha in my opinion has been carrying a minor injury over the last couple of months. Hopefully he does not have to play for the Ivory Coast now the EPL season is over and comes back fully fit. He is under contract so no need to sell nor should we.

He's sick of being given the ball and asked to create magic. I think we should sell now and rebuild around Eze. He's our future.
