Bill Bailey has put himself forward for next year. We might as well go with something like that really, at least having a laugh in the process. Aren't we known for our self deprecating humour. We can use our big fat zero to our advantage (the points I mean, not Bill!))

I fully approve of this initiative.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

Yes, it's all supposed to be a bit of a laugh, so lets go with it.

this is what I thought. I never watch the show itself, not my cup of tea, but had a look at the video clips once I read about the coke scandal, which is more my cup of tea. His hands were too far apart, and his face was too far away from the table not to be using a straw or note or whatever to do the line, which he'd need his hands for. Any occasional coke taker would have spotted this. Shame for the band if they're really not into that sort of thing and got tarred with the brush, despite their 'rock n roll will never die' or whatever line it was being somewhat out of sync with their 'we never take drugs' position.

. Yeah, I do feel bad that it overshadowed their win, since clearly they were subject to a heavy dose of 'fake news'.

Though after finding out today that the lead singer is just 22 years old, I'm kind of hoping that he has been 'burning the candle at both ends' in life, else he must have the ropiest genes on the planet!

As long as we don’t let Jonny foreigner in on the joke. He has to look steadfastly serious and like he’s in it to win it.

It is a laugh here. It is life and death there. Think the intensity of support for a national team if it progresses in the World Cup!

Trouble is, they know we scoff, and hate us for it.

Take Scandinavia. A few years ago, 95% of the Icelandic population tuned in to watch the Grand Final in which they did not have an entrant.

Back on point, I would like to see Bill Bailey do his okey-kokey in the style of Kraftwerk. Very European. And well worth a look on YouTube if new to you.

I have lost all respect for them .

Great idea on how Bill Bailey might approach it. Just checked it out. It would throw them, in having a UK entry with wider European appeal. May it well go for it, we can't do any worse!

Next year. Just drive a big red bus on the stage with a sign, Why spend £350m hosting eurovision, let's spend it on the NHS instead?

Noooo! The BBC contribution to Eurovision is more like £350,000 ... but even that's too much for the pile of $hite!

Somebody queried why the BBC has to show it?

A good point, if ITV was to put it on they would proably have a X Factor style show with the winner being our entrant. We'd still lose though.

One more point
