highlights:

* on air to promote the documentary. zaha is the star. story of the guys who achieved something they never have before on a shoestring budget. delaney said every team he left got promoted the season after the left. ian holloway is the funniest man in football.

* new manager: here's the big one - there is no one lined up. they did not want to begin looking during the season for fears it would leave to upheaval. "you can look in the papers if you want names." said that as a joke. feels it's a very attractive job and will have quality candidates.

* roy's legacy: they had lunch yesterday and SP thanked him for the stability. *paraphrasing* "as a chairman and owner, the biggest challenge is changing managers and all of the upheaval. we didn't have to worry about that with roy." also cited the development of the academy during roy's time.

* super league: not gone at all. he said it already is moving forward, in a way, with FIFA and the world club championship. the ESL is probably dead for a little while but he has no delusion it won't come back in a different form. small associations are the ones doing some oversight and they don't have the resources to do it properly.

* they didn't ask him about the out of contract players.

* asked him about the new signing from the US. just normal, "great young player who we're excited to have," comments

* eze and NF: very unfortunate. both had surgeries on monday. time frame for recovery is 5-9 months. this obviously complicates the transfer strategy they had in place.

So, in short, a load of waffle about nothing with the exception of the Managers situation "No-one lined up" says it all really . . . Typical Palace in so many ways.

Good to see that he's at least been able to get himself on the radio there.

Presumably local Baltimore radio nairb? No coincidence that it's the home of Crystal Palace Baltimore then.

My guess that his "no-one lined up" comment is purely to deflect more speculation. Would have been kinda crazy if he'd said anything more positive during an interview on a US radio programme.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Tbf he specifically said that they didn't want to interview anyone until Roy publicly confirmed he was leaving.

Whether that's true or they got knocked back by candidates they wanted, who knows. But it does not sound like anyone is in place. He also said we have a "grace period" between now & when the team returns to training.

That's interesting. I have pondered whether he was waiting until the end of the season (including for CHampionship clubs in the play offs) before approaching Burnley, Barnsley, Brentford and Swansea for permission to speak to their managers.

Why shouldn't he establish who is available and interested, then interview a range of possible candidates? Seems OK to me. DF can get on with transfers.

Palace Baltimore was dissolved over 10 years ago as it was one of the many things Jordan could not afford.

he's been on this show several times before and has been very candid. i'm sure there have been agent discussions but i believe what he said.

so the show is on a national satellite radio provider. it's a station dedicated to soccer/football. not local to me. one of the hosts is rodney marsh, who you probably know. he's friends with roy so we've gotten some tidbits over the years.

one of those tidbits was after a call they had last week. he asked roy about coming to america and apparently roy said he wouldn't mind coaching the national team or, "a," national team.

I am astonished that SP is only now adverting his mind to the managerial vacancy, having known for months that Roy was leaving.

I had assumed that behind the scenes his successor had been lined up and that the transition was being meticulously planned.

But from what Andros Townsend and SP have said this isn’t the case. We are in fact in limbo; in a state of strategic paralysis where we cannot even decide which of the out of contract players we’d like to keep.

As my old man used to say, it’s like Fred Karno’s circus.

You know I used to hear that a lot at SP when I was a kid. I rather doubt anyone who actually said saw Fred and Charlie Chaplin they probably weren't old enough, still we all know what they meant.

The other expression i used to hear was when 2 Palace players dithered over a ball bouncing in the opposition area:

After you Claude

No Algernon I insist after you.

And of course we were all screaming one of you kick it.
