Pulis, Hughes, Holloway, Warnock etc have premier league experience but I wouldn't want any of them. Ancelotti did a good job at Chelsea (but he had the players) but is struggling, though, to do anything notable at Everton and look at how much money Pellegrini wasted at West Ham despite having done a job at Citeh.

Nuno had no PL experience before Wolves, nor Pochettino before Southampton, but of course, these (plus Jose, Ancelotti, Conte etc.) are foreign managers and so they're automatically better in many people's eyes.

Cooper's appeal for me is:
1) firstly, that he's worked well with England's best young players,
2) secondly, he has been doing a good job at Swansea. 3) Thirdly, he's not had oodles of dosh for transfers
4) Fourthly, having coached the England U17s to a world cup win will be well placed to identify which of our Academy players should be prepared for stepping up to the first team squad.
5) Finally, he will see Palace as his big opportunity to show what he can do at PL level.

I must admit, the more I read about him the more appealing Cooper sounds, although I did read a while back that one criticism thrown at him has been tactical naivety, which if true would a be a worry given PL games are often like a game of chess.

To be honest, none of the supposed leading candidates fill me with dread, so I'm just excited to see who it will be and what they will do.

Was 7/1 now 2/1.

Often happens with vacant management betting markets. Bookie shortens the odds to make it look like it’s getting more likely and loads of punters who do t understand value pile in blind. It could of course be Dyche, but if they do this with a few of the bookies, and they often do, they’ve had one over on the mug punters. The best one was Holloway when we all knew it would be him before the bookies and the only difficulty was the max bet allowed with individual bookies.

Based on the average age of our squad he's probably young enough to be player manager.

Wolves were immediately linked with Bruno Lage. While I appreciate that there is the Portuguese connection, there's nothing to say that we're not looking at overseas managers. We only know the managers we know, hence the few names being touted around. Would like to think that CPFC's net stretches wider than those.

I doubt Parish is going that route after the FdB affair but I think our refusal to go abroad seriously sells us short. There are some terrific coaches in world football and we have the lure of Premier League money. We should be going all out in foreign markets but it's very doubtful imo.

I agree, there are indeed some very good coaches abroad. I suspect if we were in the Championship, we would go down this route. The last 3 Barnsley managers ( I believe) have been recruited from abroad
, 2 have moved on to bigger jobs, the 3rd is in situ, for now.

Indeed the last 3 managers Barnsley appointed on a permanent basis are Ismael,Stendel and Struber.
In actual fact the list extends to 4 as Jose Morais was appointed prior to Stendel but he was only at the club for a few months.
