Agreed. Crazy to judge a manager on one final - Even the very best have lost finals. Thomas Frank lost the same final last year but some on here would be happy if he was appointed.

I'm still in favour of Dyche but have read a lot of positive things about Cooper.

Nobody is judging him on one final. I’ve just said I’m not judging him on one final. His senior career to date is 2 seasons in the Championship. Both of which he has failed to get Swansea promoted in. Does that make him a bad manager? Not necessarily at all. But considering the position were in, it would make him a very very bizarre appointment.

The fact that is even controversial is laughable. It’s also rather ironic watching people having a dig whilst saying they’ve "read good stuff" about Cooper and putting him in the same bracket as Dyche. They’re not remotely similar managers, I’ve watched Swansea here and there for the past couple of seasons, spoke to Swansea fan and watch the England team Cooper used to manage. I’m not saying he’s a bad manager, there is simply no reason for Palace to hire him at this moment.

I think Cooper would be ideally suited in taking over from Boothroyd

We can go for Cooper, but have to view the upcoming season as one of transition, that will be expensive and maybe at times dull.... we don't have the players for his style, short term.. does he have the experience to adapt??

Allardyce is the man I would suggest for two seasons.

With the goal of bringing in youth, lowering wage bill.

following season pushing on and adapting the style of play further....

This was once a quality forum....

I don’t think Allardyce would lower the wage bill

Well that playoff final has thrown a spanner in the works.

I read that Parish wanted Dyche and the yanks want Cooper.

I am not sold on either. My maybe £50m to spend, plus any money from the sale of Zaha, I would not trust either of them to spend it well.

Could imagine Dyche trying to bring Ashley Barnes here or Cooper bringing in the other Ayew.

As Spiderman has said, Allardyce and a lowered wage bill have no obvious connection. Come to think of it, I can't see anything to link Allardyce with youth development either.

I had thought that anything the club might have been waiting for will have come to pass by the end of the long weekend now that the play offs are done, but I believe most UK football contracts expire on 30th June, so if there is any truth in the idea that we are waiting for Lampard to be free of his Chelsea contract date, this weekend might not be such a milestone.

Andre Ayew would be a freebie and not a bad signing as back up but I don’t want Cooper anyway though.

Have wanted Dyche for a while now but doubt he’d want Barnes as barely used him this season. I wouldn’t mind Wood though.

They sacked him. There can be no contract. Whatever the the finer points of the sacking were, it was either paid up in full, or forfeited. Why others use this reasoning I don't know.

Systematically dragged down by the lawmakers

Personally I do not believe he is on that much. No-one knows, I have seen £70k paw quoted, a lot less than Roy and possibly nearer the truth

Pinch of salt , who knows .
