I posted the following in a different thread :

"Brighton, since being promoted have lasted 4 seasons in the PL, their highest position being 15th and in each season they have finished below us.
Their 'Net spend' over the 4 seasons is approaching £200 Mill".

It was certainly a miracle they didn't beat us on both occasions this year...

Have just watched the Champions league final makes me realise that the highlight of our season was beating Brighton! Is that what we are aiming for next season also?

And we're still skint.

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything.

I remember a few years ago when Bolton were relegated. It didn't seem to worry their fans too much as they had beaten Manchester United and that was seen as the most important thing.

I thought it was rather sad at the time and think that the highlight of our season being finishing above Brighton equally sad

So true ME. I'll speak heresy and say I'd rather lose twice to Brighton and win the cup or even qualify for Europe by finishing 7th than have to beat them and finish above them. My focus is on what we do not some silly unnatural rivalry sparked by a couple of former managers.

Now I'm for the high jump!

Have to say I agree with you Doom.
Bet you can jump higher than me!

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

I kinda agree with DB etc, its bragging rights really, between us & Br1-3ton. I too, would love to finish in the top half of the table(EPL wise), win a cup, get into Europe.

If beating & finishing above 'them' is the sole highlights of supporters, God help us.
