Brexit: UK announces trade deal with Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein "However, the Norwegian government said the deal with the UK would not restore all the advantages it had when both countries were in the EEA." The UK already had free trade agreements with these 3 countries as an EU member since they are EEA member countries.

It's a good start to our new found freedoms from the shackles of the EU. 5 months in and deals signed and sealed. May there be many more to come.

Norway should know, they have a rotten deal with the EU. And they know it, they even have 75% EU law. The common denominator of Truss's trade deals is that they do not lead to increased trade, only benefit others, and are damaging our own people. Trade deals are supposed to increase trade, not reduce it or subtract from what you already had.

Too early to make that judgement, my guess is that it takes a year before you can as inevitably there will be a lag time between deal signing and business gearing up to take advantage. I guess the other thing to say is doing a trade deal with a country is just a start if you can build trust and relationships that will lead to further deals. The break with the EU wasn't done for economic reasons. I know a certain percent of remainers find it hard to deal with this lens and are still rotating the same arguments from 2016. It's like a love affair that they can't move on from....but it's gone. Now they get to experience what it was like for anti EU campaigners who were kept from a vote for forty odd years due to deliberate political resistance on the matter. Certainly if the 2016 vote had been respected I think the attitude of many wouldn't be as polarised as it now is. As it is, they now get to taste what's it's like to be politically ignored on an issue that they believe in. Not nice is it.
