Apparently there was a disagreement regarding transfer funds at Spurs. Everton don’t seem to mind spending big, perhaps both parties believe they can buy success, just a hunch

Yeah, it's all guesswork at the moment.

I think Nuno is a decent fit at Everton.

Also, he didn't think they had a chance of challenging for title next season and he wasn't interested in using some of Spurs' promising youngsters in first team squad.
Job done for Levy though as it'll seem to those gullible Spurs fans that he's trying to bring them success and it's not his fault if a top manager doesn't want to go there.

The Spurs fans of which my son is one aren't that gullible and know exactly what's what there.

Incidentally if I may introduce a Willoesque irrelevancy Levy's son follows me on LinkedIn

That’s where my money is. SP usually has a plan and has known Roy was going at some point. Bringing Dougie and Shaun back into key roles while Roy was here could have been the master plan all along. Build from within. Liverpool did it for years. Might not be the worst outcome.

Fair enough, but I didn't say all Spurs fans are gullible.
It is about time that Levy gets some stick though. It's his fault apparently that the stadium took much longer and greater cost than it should have. And then he was giving them false hope that Poch (the man he didn't back and eventually sacked) would be returning.

Maybe Mark Bright DOF, its the cheap option

We'll be the laughing stock when we're relegated at the end of the season

Transfers and the manager go round is a domino effect. Our appointment will likely come after spurs and Everton with the suitable candidates that are left. That’s football

Spot on.
The upside of appointing a new manager before Roy had left is that we get certainty and can make concrete plans. The downside is that somebody better might unexpectedly become available and we'd end up wishing we'd been more patient.

The upside of waiting to see which managers are available is that we get a wider range of options and can even compare interview performances. The downside is we have to wait our turn behind the bigger clubs who will naturally be more attractive to the better available managers.

Swings and roundabouts.

I concur with these comments.
We are birds on the same twig on this matter.

If he does not go Everton, then I reckon we will swoop. Of all the jobs available in the premier, ours is the least wanted. If spurs don’t get their First, Second, third or fourth targets, you never know Howe could be in the frame (or that’s their thinking). Transfers and the manager go round is a domino effect. We are a more attractive option to Lampard than Spurs - Chelsea fans wouldn't like it . Howe too geographically speaking we are more attractive if they don't want to move from a family home. Nuno is attractive but it seems too much of a package for us to deal with

This show shows the lack of clear thinking from the club.

If you have a vision - i.e. What is important in football terms for the club ??

The befuddled thinking is the only thing that is clear from the lack of action. Playing the field isn't doing us any favours. Just picking up what's left?

Steve saying what a wonderful partnership we had. I should have made him want to stay. His team and his way got us promioted despite Ian Holloway tinkering. Sets the scene nicely for the return of the messiah.

Hopefully we will know soon!

He’s definitely not the messiah. We’ll be laughed into the Championship. You’re young and foolish at 19 - not 38.
