Why do they call herbs, erbs?

They managed to pronounce Herb Alpert OK though.

Never really liked him much. Bit full of himself. He loved to blow his own trumpet.

Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry.

I hate that too, sounds poncy. They think it should be said with a French accent. Although if they have a penchant (French origin) for herbs, they pronounce penchant as we say pension.

There we are, 2 Nations divided by the same language.

On the subject of the Swiss Army knife, I thought these days they'd been superceded by the Leatherman. Anyway, do SA knives still have that thing to stones out of horses hooves? Always thought that was a tad redundant.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

I think it's more like the Jamaican version 'urbs'. And they don't use a Swiss Army knife to harvest them, they have a 'Trenchtown chet'.

If Americans make ratatouille they use bell peppers, zucchini and eggplant whereas use peppers, courgettes and aubergines.

My sister has lived in Australia for nigh on 50 years and she now speaks more American than English and if we talk about food and she mentions zucchini I always say "what's that"

Serious question, why does she speak more American if she lives in Australia?

I'm guessing that American English is what most Australians speak but don't ask me why

Im just guessing, but, same as most like the rest of the world when they speak 'English' its always with an 'Americanism' which basically comes from watching American shows on TV.
