One of the guys on TMS was saying that this 2 match series was kind of "hastily arranged" & had to be shoehorned in between something which was why it was only a 2 match series. And yes your right- NZ deserved more. Originally posted by steeleye20
Really why only a 2-match series? I am just up for Joe and the lads to re-group and go again, with some of the established test match players back. NZ are certainly worthy of more as well.

Like you suggest, these cricketers are very nicely paid and most English cricket fans value the test team over the hit and run stuff. Who is saying this stuff in the public eye? Boycott had his issues but climbing the greasy pole wasn't one of them. As a commentator I think the public have missed out on his type....the guy who will speak his mind without fear of favour.

Test Cricket is dying out, in favour of the slogging. I expect it to fully die out if they don't become more relevant.

Yep, I think it's been lots of small changes all done for practical...or let's be honest for money reasons that has ultimately reduced the quality of cricket...not just with us but around the world. As I know the English game much better than any other I think the biggest long term reductions in quality was by changing to covered pitches....which has reduced the ability of our batsman to cope better with movement and the exclusivity deal with Sky, which has reduced the numbers of youth who regularly watched the game.
