Not really sure where I stand on it really but since I am not compelled to pay for it, I can make a choice about whether or not I watch it, and also make purchasing choices based on who advertises with it.

Where I struggle to comprehend is why those on the Left are so triggered by it? There is no compulsion to watch it so why get so het up?

But on a wider note, does anybody honestly get their news output via the TV anymore?

One of the huge changes in my own viewing preferences since lockdown has bee a massive increase in what I watch on YouTube, at least to start with, along with a couple of other platforms some of the content I enjoy has had to go because of the wider 'cancel' culture.

With it becoming that any form of 'normal' television is becoming less and less relevant by the day, matching the decline in the printed press as well (look at the recent valuations of the Sun).

Perhaps people should be celebrating a media company willing to take the risk of setting up in these days of declining advertising revenue and viewing figures?

The Left get so het up because it does not follow the rest of mainstream tv in wokeness and virtue signalling.

Early returns show GB News is beating BBC and ripping Sky News a new one, probably helped by the return of the appalling Burley to Sky after her " do as I say not as I do " leave of absence.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

Politics aside, I think that's what's clever about it in a way. It's clearly looking to tap right back into the demographics that more frequently stopped watching TV News because they felt it didn't speak to them. Those same people will likely see more and more all action GB News clips online, which will be great advertising for the actual channel. For that reason I expect it to be somewhat OTT as a channel and seek controversy, but as a business idea it feels like it's a concept that could work.

I'm disappointed that a gold-plated arsehole like Dan Wootton is being given airtime.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

In a way, pushing what is perceived as a Right Wing POV is probably a better business model in the Media these days because not only do you get the Right but you also get the Left, who are addicted to taking offence and then boring the nadgers off the rest of us by telling the world about it. Essentially they need their fix of outrage and if Andrew Neil can serve them up with it, they are more than happy to help his viewing figures out.

I guess the downside is that you can end up getting cancelled but with regards to this new channel, I cannot see that happening.

It will depend on how much the channel relies on advertising I have no doubt that any company that sponsors the channel will face protests.

Any comparisons or measures of success based on viewing figures will at the moment possibly not be an accurate gauge of anything. People will tue in as it is new.

I remember various launches of newspapers over the years. Today, The Independant (and later The I) Folks buy them or watch this as it is the new kid on the block.

Trick will be keeping interest.

I have given it a watch and for me I don't find the presentation particularly engaging, it's a bit like early versions of breakfast TV. But in saying that I fo think it has a place in the world of reporting right now.

I also wonder if in a few years time it will be as relevant?
