A good example of justice delivered, hopefully this PC has lost all of his benefits such as his pension taken away:

One would imagine so, and hope so! Lets hope he gets a long enough sentence to dwell on his actions and come out of prison a better, reformed character who can contribute to society in a good way.Dalian Atkinson was part of my favourite team to watch ever, on motd, that Villa team were scoring from the half way line every other week at villa park.He wasn"t well and had a hospital appointment the next day, the pc should have been better trained on mental health.

While I didn't agree with what happened to Atkinson and I think manslaughter is probably right to some degree.....I just have to say something here.

As a younger man, I did a bit of physical security and was in a few physical situations due to it and and in my own time and I can say something to this.

Fear is a real aspect of physical confrontation, for some its a drug for others its so impactful it can disfigure their reading of a situation.

For that latter a significant percentage can fear that if they aren't up to winning in the heat of the fight or fear injury then moderation is harder far harder for them in the confrontation as they seek to eliminate any threat.....You don't know until you've been there and those that can't take a punch in the mouth without keeping their head shouldn't get the badge.

I know this as I've seen it in others and I think anyone who has regularly been in those 'fear of life' situations understands the adrenaline can make the rational harder.

Unfortunately I doubt the modern day soy Police force takes account of that in its recruitment though I have little doubt that it's a reality many Policemen know.

More than likely, should have never, ever been recruited in the first place. No doubt some on here will start to make excuses, hidden in some cowardly indirect way of course

Again, indeed! The recruiting process is in need of an update.

The bloke obviously lost it and should never have acted like he did ,inexcusable
But Is there anything in his background that would have excluded him from being recruited? If so I haven’t seen it.
He can’t be blamed for the flawed selection process

would the verdict have been the same if the dead man was a white ex-soldier struggling with drink and mental health issues instead of a black ex-professional footballer?
Just asking.

Maybe not, but not because of colour, more because of media fame.

Just asking.

A white boy of four was dragged out of his cot murdered by a black teenager who had broken into the home a few weeks back and I bet you don't even know his name.

Yet if that boy had been black and the teenager white I bet your bottom dollar you'd know all about it.
