To be fair, it seems to be working !

I like a number of us on here have supported this club from the early 60s and basically being a Palace fan is a painful unique once in a life time experience and something I will never change. We are now in our ninth year as a Premiership football club and like the past years we never seem to learn our lessons. Yes I will mention that we have to be thankful for Steve Parish and Co and they will always be remembered for saving this club. Past history we move on, but to be honest what have we learned, nothing! Why did it take so long to get Wickham, Sakho of the pay roll. How are the club sponsors going to react to this uncertainly.
What is being portrait by this club at present is turmoil it’s making itself a laughing stock I cannot for the life of me understand why !
I cannot see that the owners did not know that Roy Hodgson was going to retire, I honestly believe this was a two way decision and it was and is knowledge that the club wanted to take a different route of playing style, so why the delay in getting a new manager in place, if it was out of respect for Roy then that in my eyes is not how to run a business sentiment and loyal have there place.
Is there a power struggle, differences of opinion going on or is there something behind the screen that is being kept under wraps, We all heard and know about the takeover rumours, but they are not new, every year for the past (x) amount of years this club has been linked to takeovers which never happen. A whole team of players out of contract, No manager at present, it’s a fiasco and to be honest it’s a joke.
I don’t blame the owners for the Lucien Favre incident, because to all intents and purposes we all thought he was our next manager and people have a right to change their minds, but reports suggest that Favre actually contacted all the players to report for training on Monday, If the transfer funds were the reason for the change of heart then what the hell did he want in funds. The reported £80m is a massive amount in this day age for a football club to spend considering the Covid restrictions and the lack of income through the terraces. As for Nuno in my opinion he and his agent were playing games to draw Everton in and it basically back fired. So now he is at Spurs, pressure is no him to deliver.

Once again the old familiar uncertainly regarding the coming season is all to apparent just extremely early this season. once again odds on to go down, the laughing stock tag is sticking hard, something need to be done quickly and a show of professionalism, for a better word needs to be portrait by this club.

Could it be because Vieira isn't going to be the new manager?

Perish the thought.

Parish has done the pant-wetters and the 'in the know' tw@ts up like kippers.

Nah, it's going to be Vieira. He all but confirmed it himself.

We're the Arthur over ere!

Difficult isn’t it. I so want to believe SP knows what he is doing and someone will be unveiled any day with the funds available to back them. But the longer this drags on…..

There is no panic we have the following Players:

GK - Guieta - Butland

RB - Ferguson (injured) - Ward (Offered new contract)

LB - Mitchell - Hannam

CB - Tompkins - Cahill (New Contract Offered) - Kelly

CM - Luka - Kouyate - McArthur - Riedewald - Eze (Injured)

LW - Zaha - Schlupp

RW - Townsend (Offered New Contract)

CF - Benteke - Mateta - Ayew

That’s a 20 msn squad plus a couple of U21s not mentioned & we will bring in 5-6 new players.

Vieira will be announced with around 4 back room staff at least 3 with experience.

You'll appreciate that your itk status is, how to put this, subject to question but I nevertheless think the contract offers you list are certainly feasible, and as you say, if we can get a few new players we'll be fine, and making new signings must be part of the plan no matter what.

With genuine respect, I could not disagree with you more. I don't want the club saying a single thing until a deal is done. I don't understand the sense of entitlement that so many people seem to have regarding information.

I get your point but this is not a sense of entitlement. Football, as you know, is so entwined within the community that it’s not like a delayed takeover of the local grocers. We invest time, money, sweat and tears on our team and, in return, all we ask for is 100%, win, lose or draw. That applies to the running of the club also. I do understand that the fans are not as important in the EPL, with sponsorship and TV deals etc, but if they f*** this up - as I suspect they will - then we will be a lot more important in the lower divisions.
I don’t harbour any expectations to hear company secrets, I don’t expect to receive their hit list nor hear about negotiations but I do believe that the club should attempt to calm us all down a bit with a comment to the effect that all is under control, player contracts are being dealt with, scouting continues etc. That we don’t get any of this makes it feel as though we are being taken for granted.
I don’t consider this to be an unfair view - just a ‘don’t worry’ statement from the club. I maintain that I believe it disrespectful to the fans that the Club are seemingly unwilling to calm the herd.
In my opinion I’d swing this around and suggest that it is the club that has a sense of entitlement to our unwavering support, regardless, and I don’t understand that.

I don't see how even the most one eyed optimist can put a positive spin on this situation.
Yes, we are where we are and can't change things.
However, that doesn't invalidate questioning how we've arrived in this position.
If you had told me at the end of the season we would be going into July without a manager and coaching staff, with longstanding player issues unresolved and no firm recruitment plans (or at least no msnagerial input into such plans), I would not have believed you.
It's asking a lot for all this to be resolved in a few weeks.

I enjoyed the message from the club today, “last chance to get a season ticket”. I felt like replying with, “last chance to get a manager and a team”.

And the question has to be . A season ticket to watch what and who, managed by who?
The club have created a situation , that is without doubt one of the most ridiculous I can remember since the fifties when I first took to the claret and blue. I agree with Helmet, the club should not remain totally silent ,it’s taking the support for granted. For every other club watching we are a joke. It’s often been so for Palace, over the years, undeserved most of the time, but this time that thought has to carry some merit.
I can not see how anyone could see the situation we are in as anything other than a potential for a disastrous season. Why would anyone be happy at that thought.?
