Why do we, as fans, have to pay to advertise for a company, most of us either, dont give a monkeys, not interestec, will never? Its a bit like paying for a 10p supermarket bag. Do the companies pay YOU to advertise their product, NO, we do for theirs I'm with you on this eagleman. I don’t buy or wear the shirts, at my age they just look silly and anyway, proper dress for a football match is a nice long overcoat, a flat cap and a club scarf your Mum knitted. But you're so right about the free advertising they provide. The same with all other branded clothes and bags. Consumers taken for mugs all the time.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

I've never fathomed why people pay to walk around advertising stuff for free, but today there was an interesting programme on radio 4 (I know, get me eh? ) about how effectively advertisers can create the desire for a particular product in the minds of their target consumers which kind of explained it. Basically, and from what I could understand, if you know what buttons to press then the vast majority of us are weak minded and easily manipulated most of the time. I then switched off the radio, glanced at my phone and saw that the new away kit had been released.

unless its a stand out shirt, I like the retro ones... I also like the training tops... I don't like walking back with a logo on my chest... something juvenile about it. A scarf, retro shirt, club t shirt always feels more dignified... but, each to their own.
This was once a quality forum.... |
