I suppose she's technically right.

You are not alone!
I do exactly the same to clothes

Vieira wasn't one of my top choices but I'm quite intrigued to see what he brings to the table now he's here and, specifically, the type of players and style of football that he goes for.

The last couple of years have been all about safety, both in terms of supporting Palace and life in general. I'm definitely ready for a change, taking a few risks and the excitement that brings.

Cannot wait to get back to Selhurst and get a few beers down me.

Seconded!
He would not have been my choice but let's support him and the team now.
Exciting months ahead hopefully!

Absolutely. I think people will start cheering up once a few contract renewals and signings are confirmed.

I've been as negative as anyone over the last year under Roy but things are looking up now and, despite England being in the semi-finals of a major tournament, I'd be lying if I said it wasn't the prospect of a first trip to Selhurst in two years that's really revving my engine at the moment!

I'm surprised there is significant negativity concerning PV's appointment and prospects of success. He was a top top player, by all accounts a respected coach and has some management experience.

But I suppose some of you can potentially say "I told you so" in due course, so I hope that's some comfort for you.

Personally I'm excited to see where we are by Christmas and if we're bottom then I'll eat humble pie. I wonder if the naysayers will do the same if he's a success?

Well said. I’m delighted he’s on board. It’s been a struggle for SP but we have a manager who wants to be part of the project. The other names mentioned were either put off by the enormity of the task or made unreasonable demands. Good riddance to all of them I say.

Given our current squad we could be bottom at Christmas with Guardiola in charge so we should wish PV luck and get behind him regardless of what happens this season. Let’s not have a PV out thread please! To change our style, utilise the academy more and still be in th PL next season is a huge challenge for any manager. If he plays good football and brings some kids through and we stay up the man is a genius.

Viva Vieira! COYP!

As said by some already, the make up of the squad is every bit as much a concern as whether Patrick, has enough manager qualities to succeed. Personally for what it’s worth in a public debate, I think he has ,
Getting the squad sorted out might prove a bit more of a problem.
For a start , has Viera , been able to see enough of any of the out of contract players, either playing or training to have good reason to keep? An honest assessment would take weeks as against days.
If we are going for new blood, any assessment ,s should be over now or very soon as work needs to be in place to cover any holes left by the end of the window, and that can only happen when we are fully into who actually goes.
Some of the out of contracts, could be given a late offer if all else was not in place, but only if those that can do a job have not moved on.. I would like to see a fair bit of new blood , so I’m hoping the decisions have been taken, but these things are expensive and never easy, so here’s hoping.

This! PV will need longer than until Christmas 2021 so let's hope the board will give that to him.

If we avoid relegation this season then PV will have been a success IMO.

If Vieira proves to be a success, I suspect other clubs higher in the 'Food chain' will come calling if they wish to replace their managers.

On a general point, had the club appointed Lampard,Dyche,Favre,Nuno, HOL would be awash with excitement and there would have been a real sense of optimism.I don't sense these emotions at the present time.

I think Vieira will prove to be a good choice. He was a World-class player and has some useful managerial experience and will have gained from his time at City under Mancini.
I also think the out of contract situation isn't that bad if we can get Townsend, Ward and Cahill on extensions. That would give us a squad of 19 if I've counted right and then we need to buy or loan the following:
1 x RB (as 1st choice prior to Ferguson return)
2 x CH (to be groomed alongside Tompkins/Cahill)
1 x DM (box to box in the PV mould)
1 x AM (to cover for Eze until he returns)
1 x RW (as 1st choice with Andros as backup)

This should all be doable and all the talk of relegation should cease. Come on, be positive!

COYP!

I dare say Survival is Vieira's no.1 priority, and if there is real danger of relegation then his job will be at risk.

We just need to give him as much time as is reasonable to sort it.

"It was a Team effort, I guess it took all players working together to lose this one"
