Isn’t this what IR 35 is supposed to be all about. The loophole of umbrella companies had I thought been closed.

I'm not sure they have. It's all gone very quiet on the tax investigation I'm surprised some MP has asked HMRC what's going on.

Labour demands resignation of No 10 ally accused of trying to block BBC appointment.

Angela Rayner says move by BBC board member Robbie Gibb shows ‘Tory cronyism’ at heart of corporation.

Clearly using his position to further the interests of the conservative party.

Yes it's disgraceful the Tories trying to exert influence in a socialist organisation how dare they. What is even worse he is a member of the BBC board how dare he stick his nose into who the BBC appoints that not the job of the board oh wait err maybe.....

A non-executive member of the board must uphold and protect the independence of the BBC.

Clearly he cannot block an entirely merited non-political appointment for his own political ends.

Here I was thinking that the #defundthebbc was unbiased, non-political & the paragon of journalism

He has spent 20 years working for the BBC prior to being made a board member. The whole point of being on the BBC board is to ensure impartiality and integrity.

Depending on your point of view you can spin this either way. Yes it can be seen as Tory intervention or it can be seen as a long standing member of the BBC pointing out that this appointment may well be a mistake and put the BBC in further trouble with the government.

Yep, fine and dandy.

But, this is Johnsons Tory party, you forgot to mention the the Chairman of the BBC used to work for Johnson and Sunak and has donated £400,000 to the Tory party.

Nothing to see here (again).

The journalist is a well known person on the left considering the BBC has received record number of complaints about bias this last year did it not occur to them that the optics might not look good.

The BBC has been mired in many scandals over the last few decades Jimmy Saville, Cliff Richard and now Diana. Each time the governance of the corporation has been questioned why for example did the board not ask questions intervene etc.

If I was on the board and a staunch supporter of the BBC I would have questioned her appointment. But as I want the licence fee abolished go ahead and and appoint her in fact why not make Corbyn DG and Diane Abbott Chairwoman.

Robbie Gibb is a BBC employee of 20 years I think he's trying to tell the BBC to stop shooting itself in the foot.

An excellent detailing of the biases and problems within the BBC.
