Something that has had very little investigation is just why so many scientists, governments and media companies were so fine and happy to insist that this virus's origins were from a 'wet market'.....names were added to Lancet articles and so on.

There was no objective reason to favour one origin over another yet no objectivity was shown what so ever. Yet, only recently once the whistle was blown on lab funding and on China's cover up and evidence destruction suddenly admissions that this is a valid theory appear.

It's not a small aspect that those that questioned this theory with the rather obvious counterpoint of the Wuhan lab being located in the same area were abused and insulted in media, called 'conspiracy theorists', were censored and banned by media companies and had the rather obvious theory completely ignored...officially at least by governments.

Who stood up against this?

There is a rather obvious sub text over undue influence and media control...yet so many people have their attention easily distracted by the next event and led by the nose...and most don't even appear to care.

Whatever China wants, China gets.....when the rot is set into your own elite class you have a serious problem.

I must admit, I don't see logically how either possibility can be entirely ruled out and so it does put the influence exerted by those involved under the spotlight. Either possibility is unnerving really, as there is no saying that a ramped up repeat of this pandemic won't happen again not too far down the road.

'If' it did come from a lab, and China end up viewing it as a net positive, that in itself is very concerning.

I hope that Boris has his mind changed on masks.
Keep them as they are but allow shop staff, hospitality etc not to wear them unless they want to.
It isn't much of an imposition but it needs to come from the Government.

Yes, I do think it's the wrong message to send out, as keeping them in a very limited sense isn't exactly a huge sacrifice to make. Sending out a 'do what you like' message will put pay to that. You'd think that government has lurched and backtracked enough this way and that, to keep stating things in all or nothing terms.

There have been at least two previous pandemics linked to origins in China. Probably more. One would think someone would take action, eventually. Instead we are prisoners in our own homes for a year or two. China continues to follow no rules at all. This will happen over and over again.

Yes, in either scenario (wet market or lab) you would think that the consequences would be taken more seriously. Even the former (wet markets) are a lab of sorts based on the unnatural conditions and combinations they present.

Like you I can't see any of this changing. The most optimistic thing I can muster up is that the science (for treatment of viruses and beyond) may well be advancing at a much more rapid rate out of desperation.

Also surprising, considering it must have quite a period to spread before it was even identified, that China is ranked 101 in the world in numbers of cases. Unless their data is not entirely reliable.

They also don't have any islands in the South China Sea, they have only arrested criminals in Hong Kong and they are more respectful of human rights than any western democracy.

Surprised that there has been no comments on the making of the CV injection mandatory for care workers?

We have a poster, is it Mapletree, who runs or owns a care home so I would be interested in his views on this and whether staff agree or will this lead to staff leaving/being sacked?

When it can have serious side effects, I don't see how it can be legally mandatory for anyone.
For a start, if I were Jehovah's Witness and I refuse the vaccine and then sacked, I'm discriminated against on religious grounds. There are hundreds of other examples.

With the rapid proliferation of the virus,I believe that it will be a matter of weeks before restrictions will be re-introduced.

Willo here in SE Asia we are going into strict lockdowns, anyone comes into village from major city police drag them away to quarantine centers, but they still managed to get in our village first before police can catch them, not long our village infected.

I suspect what hasn't helped in England is the team's progress in the Euros, with temulent hoards in their thousands hollering and shouting in public houses during the matches.

If that's correct.....and I think it will be.

So much for vaccines.

....though in principle, you would think that the longer they have been on the books the better the refinement should be.

Your booster will await you.
