Very pleased we have him still on board. A low-key Palace legend. And hopefully a safe back up if our preferred RB gets fit!

Indeed, and as another poster said, saved us in play off final with that clearance .

It's all been said above and I am a big fan. I am looking forward to his testimonial and I don't go to many of them.

Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course).

He has been great, but he shouldn't be first choice. We have tried to replace him previously but through circumstance he's always ended up starting.

He's an adequate squad player deserving of his contract. He's been 'loyal' to us, but equally he's had it pretty good. A lot of clubs would have moved him on by now, yet we know can be relied upon when needed. He's back-up to a player who doesn't exist so by default gets promoted to the first eleven for years on end. Generally our limited budget has seen other areas of the pitch given more urgent investment. But when you consider his transfer fee wouldn't have paid the wages of Sakho or Meier for a month's turnout in the U23's, he's been 10/10 for value.

Until Jack Hunt / AWB / Nathan Ferguson / A N Other either stop breaking down or end up too good for us, he'll carry on where he is for at least another year.

Love the man - always reminds me of big Johnny Pemberton.

Except Pemberton was good at going forward.

I like Ward, he gives his all and is decent defensively. I am pleased that he will get his testimonial. However he is now only a squad player / back-up and we need far better as first choice RB.

Indeed, his attacking prowess was far better than that of Joel Ward. As we witnessed in the FA Cup Semi-Final v Liverpool at Villa Park when his cross ultimately led to Mark Bright's goal.

Dull as dishwater - I would not like to be trapped in a lift with him - but very reliable and incredible value (at today's prices) for his fee, wage and performance level.

An exasperation for the club, I suspect, that they would love to replace him but somehow never can. There seems an element of luck in his long playing record.

Nevertheless, will well deserve his testimonial.

And I bet he starts against Chelsea!

Know him personally do you? If not then how can you make a judgement on whether he is 'dull' or not?
Bit of advise, if you dont know, dont guess. Makes you look a bit of a prat.
Personally I dont really care about his personality off the field. Only that I see him always give his all on it. And he does.

it's great to have him as a squad player, he's come in for criticism since AWB left but the fact that he was our only proper right back until we got Clyne in wasn't a situation of his making, as the back-up right back he's worth keeping on, I think we need more than just Ward and Clyne fighting over that spot, maybe Ferguson is not too far off?!

Very underrated player.
Solid defender and a welcome re sign.
Dont really understand all the negativity around him.
