I just had a look at his wiki and it says he has never scored for us? I know this isn't true because I remember one goal from him from a tight angle that he smashed in. Does anyone else remember it or am I losing it?? Wiki isn't always right people....

Exactly 0-1. The year we got to the final again I think.

..more important, Kelly is back in the frame for games in PL. Think he is pretty hungry to show his worth after being expelled by the previous manager.

Yes was really pleased to see him playing yesterday... Always felt a bit sorry for Kelly during his time with us... He had that spell where we had no left back so Pardew was playing him there every game and he was getting turned inside out every game..

Then I can only assume that Hodgson really didn't like him at all as his refusal to play him or hardly have him on the bench said it all even when we were struggling for centre halves.

Good luck to him this season and I hope he can get some more minutes. He comes across as a decent fella and the few times he has played centre half for us (which is his natural position) he's always done well.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

I know it was only pre-season, but he still doesn't instil me with any confidence, plus he didn't look comfortable in possession yesterday. Barring injuries I don't think he'll play much this season either. If the Chelsea lad signs (as expected) and Cahill signs a new deal then I think in the centre-back positions he would probably be fourth or even fifth choice. Good squad player, but nothing more for me.

Think he could be an important player for us next season ; Cahill and Dann seemingly over age so think he has a part to play

Kelly is awful. There is no way we can have a good season with him on the pitch.

To be blunt he has 0 ball control and in an era where there is so much high press tactics I fear he’d be found out more than he already has done. He has single handedly cost us games when he has played and only ever had one decent game vs Arsenal.

Fingers crossed Tomkins stays injury free next season. It was an eye injury that kept him out last year so like I said fingers crossed this issue is behind him. I’d love to see Cahill stay on as well.
