I,ll join you in that. As far as it being wrong to write LC off just yet.
It would seem the injury he got is taking longer to get over fully than he would have wanted. But he still shows real class at times , he did appear to struggle a bit at Fulham, but that can happen all to easily when virtually everyone around you is making mistakes, whilst you are trying to get completely up to speed, and situations on the pitch are going from bad to worse
He would carry a risk now , that wasn’t there , but as you point out his value in any sort of deal should reflect that, fair enough if Chelsea, didn’t see it that way, that would change things, but that could only mean they really don’t write him off even at their Champions of Europe , standards.

I accept He does have a poor injury record- but if that is reflected in a reasonable salary with appearance bonuses then I think it’s worth considering (at the right price).
Ok - He’s not a youngster with bags of potential- but has plenty left to prove and time left in his career to do it.
I think he’ll never be able to command the salary he once did - so at the right price could be a quality addition.

If the rumours connecting us to his teammate Gallagher are true, then do we have space for both? They would both want first team football and I'm not convinced that would happen if both were here. We were after the Gallagher option last year rather than RL-C and after their respective performances last season, I don't see that preference changing.

RLC featured in 31 games for Fulham last season, 9 as a substitute.
Scored 1 goal, no assists.

That’s another side of the coin, in most circumstances we couldn’t have both, unless they both played, and even then we would need to buy one or the other, that wouldn’t seem likely.
It’s always a matter of opinions, but I would be inclined to see Gallagher as more in line with the type player we need right now, but I wouldn’t be crying , if it turned out we gave LC, another go as long as we didn’t mortgage the new stand that isn’t yet.

I’m with you totally in respect of CG being a clear preference - but if we couldn’t secure him permanently or he chose to go elsewhere, I think RLC would be a decent addition (at the right price) - as Willo kindly chipped in 31 appearances is actually better than I thought and if he could recapture his previous Palace form he might win people over.

so i assume that's a no from you based on last season's stats.

About a year ago when we lost 3-2 to Chelsea RLC came on as a sub mid way through the 2nd half and created their 3rd goal. So 1 assist in about 1/3 of a game.

We know he has a pass and gets the odd goal - we saw it for ourselves a few seasons ago.

Clearly he's had injuries since so there is a risk but just quoting a stat adds nothing to the debate

I think old Willo was inferring that he didn’t stand out in a poor Fulham side.

He had a very good season when with us but I feel he has gone backwards since, didn’t impress me last season at Fulham.

He’s never going to cut it at Chelsea, think a move would be best for him.

If so he will need to take a hefty pay cut

I agree with you. A lot of our problems over recent years have been on paying wages that are too high for a club of our size. RLC is on a high wage reportedly over 100k pw and this combined with a hefty transfer fee and his injury record make him a risk we can not afford

Which will only happen, when his Chelsea contract expires.

I was listening to Darren Ambrose on Talk Sport last night reflecting on his move from Palace to Birmingham. It was interesting to see him make a distinction between that move (the “biggest regret of his career” being his worst playing decision and yet financially the right decision.
I think that’s even more so the case now with the type of money involved- so I agree RLC will be like the invisible man until his Chelsea contact expires.
What a waste!
