Vieira has done nothing to show me he will be good for us.

However, everyone needs a start somewhere.

Everyone does need to start somewhere, and for PV that was New York and then Nice, both of which he did good jobs with. He took a bottom half New York to two consecutive 2nd place finishes, and a relegation-threatened Nice to 7th and then 5th, securing European football.

He's certainly achieved more than Lampard had when he got the Chelsea job. He's not so much a novice as some describe him. Whether he will continue his success with Palace, is yet to be seen... But we should not say he hasn't had any already.

I think that Vieira can attrack players other managers cant due to his legendary status as a player, lets hope he can be the manager we hope he can be

Fantastic early business done in his reign and you'd assume more to come with potential loan deals from Arsenal / City likely.

I'm not sure if it makes me feel bad for Roy that we didn't back him financially like this or more certain that he never pushed the owners hard enough.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

As far as I can make out, we backed him financially - but unfortunately to bring in players he didn't want.

Interesting piece as the bbc's lead football story . . .

So far, I like how PV has been decisive and very active in signing new players. Maybe he's getting financial backing that other managers never had before, I don't know.

Nonetheless, I like how he is aggressively signing young players, who seem to be good signings. It's possible they will all be sh-t, but on paper, it looks more promising that I feared when PV was hired.

In the past, we'd be rumored to get a player for months, then it would be announced as a certainty, then the rug would get pulled out, and we wouldn't get him. Now, it's like players are getting signed out of nowhere, before the rumor mill even gets started. And I like that.

2017 Feb. (Van Aanholt) Palace 1 - 0 Middlesboro
2018 Jan. (Sako) Palace 1 - 0 Burnley
2019 May (Batshuayi, Batshuayi, OG, Van Aanholt, Townsend) Palace 5 - 3 Bournemouth
2020 Feb. (Van Aanholt) Palace 1 - 0 Newcastle

It would be interesting to know exactly how much he knew about the new players before we signed them. I very much doubt whether he had heard of Sunderland's reserve keeper let alone seen him in action and even Championship players probably flew under his radar so these are Dougie's signings and not his.

Having said all that the two main signings do seem to be a step in the right direction and let's hope that with Vieira's connections to Arsenal and Manchester City we can prise away some more useful talent

It has been writtten that Hodgson had no dealings in the transfer side of things, is it the case that Vieira is much more involved in player acquisition?

How do you sign a player 'aggressively'?

It looks as tough PV has had nothing to do with choosing the recent signings but it is likely that his name has managed to pull the deals over the finish line.
