To be fair Ł50 million for a centre back who wasn’t good enough to get a game for England at the Euros is pretty laughable already!

Very promising! Now get Pereira from WBA, a loan deal for Gallagher (Chelsea), and then buy Lokman from his German club. With or without WZ, this will make Palace such an exciting act this season.

All three players played for clubs which got relegated!!
If we continue down the path of just purchasing young flair players or young prospects we could suffer a similar fate.

I agree with you (as I am sure does Parish) that it's vital we have a good blend of youth and experience. If we look at our current squad of outfield players I could see the following more mature players featuring regularly: - Tomkins/Kouyate for 1 position - Ward (or CLyne if he signs) - McArthur/Milivojevic for 1 position - Benteke/Ayew for 1 position depending on the striker style PV wants in any particular game. - Zaha (assuming he stays) That leaves 4 places for the youngsters as follows - Guehi at CB - Mitchell/Hannam at LB - Eze/Olise as an AM - Rak-Sakyi/A N Other as a wide player and 1 place in midfield undecided Schlupp/Riedewald/A N Other. I think the current incoming transfer focus may well be for a wide player (Lookman seems to be under consideration, I believe). We knew this window was going to be interesting and it isn't disappointing. COYP

I would suggest that at 25 Pereira is no longer 'young' in footballing terms, a flair player yes, but not so young.

I agree with you (as I am sure does Parish) that it's vital we have a good blend of youth and experience. If we look at our current squad of outfield players I could see the following more mature players featuring regularly:

Even relegated clubs have some players well worth a punt. James Maddison came from Norwich (to Leicester), seems it did him no harm leaving a relegated club.
