Anyone who is planning on driving to collect/drop off should take careful note:
There is now a £5 charge for just dropping off.
All roads around the airport are now double red lines and there is a fine of £100 just for stopping.
In fact one person has been fined for driving to slowly! 2 members of staff, pulled up by staff car park to get their passes out of their bags, before proceeding into the Staff car park and have also been fined.
This is run bu outside contractors on behalf of Gatwick, who seem to have completely lost the plot.
I do know of one place that could be used to briefly drop off without issue. Please pm me if you require this information

Exactly the same at Lulsgate (Bristol). They have the cameras to get you stopping, but also have a camera van just driving around all day. It was £1 to drop off last year, and has gone upto £4 this year!

Just stick a sticker on part of your front and back number plates before you drive in and take them off once you have left. Simples.

I used to be indecisive, but now im not so sure!

These are really heavy prices just to drop off at Gatwick and stiff penalties for stopping on the double reds.

Another reason I'm not keen on flying anywhere nowadays.

I remember, probably around the mid sixties, we used drive down to Brighton for the day. On the way back later in the evening, we'd leave the car at the side of the road (A23), by the airport and wander in for a coffee and a burger. Up to the observation area, watch a few planes take off and land then back to the car and drive home. No fuss.

Times they are a'changin'.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

There is barrier stopping you entering the drop off zone. Maybe that would work on outside roads though

It certainly looks that way. I remember always laughing when we passed the sign to Pease Pottage, as you could not see any houses, now it is virtually a new town!

Didn't know they jacked it up £3!!!!

Thankfully there's that layby on the roundabout outside which will have to be the new drop off/pick up tactic!

I guess the MacDonalds and KFC car parks are busy now days. Along with the petrol station at Gatwick. Might as well drop them off there and pick up some lunch and the passengers can walk in.

Also what happens if you go through the barriers to the short stay car Park and drive straight through dropping people off at the out barrier?

Just found this on the website

"Anyone who does not wish to pay the forecourt charge will be able to drop off or pick up passengers in the airport’s long-stay car parks with two hours free parking and a free shuttle bus to the terminals. Follow the signs for 'North Terminal long stay'.

To drop off for free, drive to North Terminal long stay. Take a ticket at the barrier, and catch the free shuttle bus to the terminal. Once you’re ready to leave, simply scan the ticket on exit for free parking for up to two hours."
