Where is Kouyate? Not seen anything of him in the training pics. He’s been awesome for us last year IMO.

Kelly isn’t adequate in far far too many areas.

Tomkins is quality he just had a bad eye injury last year.

Shame it seems Cahill won’t be staying. Guess if he goes we will just go out and sign another fantastic prospect so it’s still exciting.

Kouyate returned for training only a couple days ago. He's in photos from today.

Kabak only played 9 games for Liverpool and I am under the impression that the loan fee was £1.5 Million.
There was an option to but for a fair sum but I cannot remember the amount.

The option at that time was £15 m but apparently they will now take £8.5 m as following relegation they are desperate to get his huge wages off their payroll.

If 8.5m is the deal then yes, But Kouyate is a CD not a midfieled, all his games for Anderlect and Senegal where at CD, and a lot at West Sham it was only because the had injuries they put him in midfield.

Kouyate captains his country playing in central defence and he has been quite sound for us in this position.

I think you are correct but recently it was stated omn Hol that he was a midfielder and only played Centre Back as a makeshift when all other Cbs were injured. If anyone raises this point again I will quote you. Willo the Wizard of Wickipedia.

A decent scrabble score if it was permissible.

prefer trying a £20 million bid for Nat Philips instead.

Looked a whole lot better than Kabak I thought and a bit more of a traditional brute defensive centre back. Throw his head in the way of a grenade type!

Agreed Philips looked more convincing than Kabak and would be my preferred of the two.

But if you factor costs etc then Kabak at £8.5m is really good value considering that we already got guehi and any additional CB would be an outlay that could be of similar amount.

Also you know schalke are desperate whereas dealing with Liverpool for Philips could prove cumbersome and expensive

It was also at sham that BFS compared him to PV and he averaged a higher rating than his time at CB here. I saw once that if you take his time at palace and his national team appearances out of the equation he has actually played CDM more in his career.
I thought he wasn’t great at CB last season gives to many free kicks away and caught out of position too often.

I never needed to resort to Internet research to assert that whilst Kouyate has been a defensive midfielder by trade he has played in central defence for both Senegal and ourselves. In fact he was deployed by W.Ham in central defence when they had injuries in this area.

I'm not an ITK but very much hearing this is a bit further down the line then we think. This is off a guy I know personally who knows a few bits and bobs.

Huge wages is a bit of a warning light no? He's young and has room to progress but the last thing we need is a player on huge wages who is peripheral.

We can - and perhaps should - pay large wages but that as to be restricted to players who have performed and we need to keep/reward. Paying over the odds simply for pedigree of feeder club is a no no.

Edit

I see he was apparently on 65K at Liverpool. That is way too much for us for a player of his profile.
