its a 3rd kit, licence to be inventive.
Anyway, we had that lovely light blue with a red sash (70s?- early 80s?) so not bad.
both kits so far, so good.
lets hope the home is a stonker.

Just ordered 3rd shirt, love it. Now waiting for the home shirt reveal, hoping I can get it to Netherlands in time for Brentford game.

I have never been truly convinced of the 1861 continuous link…

If Man Utd, Liverpool, Spurs and the rest had an arguable case to be the world’s oldest professional club you’d never hear the last of it, and they certainly wouldn’t be agonising over the corroborotive value of the available evidence.

It’s a marketing persons dream and I’m glad we are publicly staking our claim.

The kit’s not bad either.

There's no such thing as home and away kits. Our kit is red and blue, then you have alternate kits for when colours clash. Wouldn't class us the same club as the original crystal Palace but nothing wrong paying homage to them with a 3rd kit, every clubs third kit is basically whatever they want it to be.

Strange comment seeing as quite a lot of clubs have had the same home colours for 80-100 years and more, and sometimes the same away colours for decades as well. You’ve just said that because we’ve had the sash as the home AND the away colours, so there’s no clear distinction. We should stick to stripes now.

The sport and league is global now and as much as we hate this fact, being behind on this on our smaller club competitors does us no favours. And I’m not just talking some bar in Africa or Asia but also tourists from Scandinavia and Nordic countries and America. Money and spending power talks now. If the Americans or other investors stick around they’ll know from brand building/awareness that chopping and changing won’t maximise brand awareness. Yes I know what I’ve just said but this part of marketing applies outside of SE England in today’s top English league to stay competitive unfortunately, and I do hate what’s happened to football on several fronts.

Not strange, there's just technically no such thing as home and away kits, you'll have your first kit then your second kit that you play in if the colours clash, home team decides so you're only going to use your alternative kit if you're away. Chelsea always play in blue against Liverpool, utd, arsenal regardless of where it is, derbys especially Liverpool vs Everton, rangers celtic, Madrid barca they would always play in their 1st kit.

I really like the new 3rd. Being a youngster in fandom but an oldster in love of history, I'm pleased with its homage to 1861. As for the argument that there's no proof of the half-and-half design, Peter Manning makes a persuasive argument on the CPFC website.

[Author of the definitive annual guide to football] Alcock also went into detail on the configuration of shirts at the time, which were typically one of four styles: bars, hoops, stripes or half-and-half. Alcock would describe the bars, hoops and stripes in detail, but said nothing of Palace’s common approach – simply "blue and white."

"If it was anything other than half and half it would have been mentioned,” Manning confirms.

The evidence is conclusive. The Palace company owned the shares to the new professional club. There was still an amateur club in existence in 1895 playing friendlies against the likes of Aston Villa. They did not disappear in 1876. We simply turned professional. The club have accepted our foundation is 1861 and although it is still unofficial, that is good enough for most of us. The FA don't want to upset Notts County simple as that!!

That's not true. The Crystal Palace Company had nothing to do with the CPFC 1861 team. They just played on its land some of the time and also at another ground in Penge.

Every newspaper report in 1905 talks of "new club" and "new venture" with new team colours. The "amateur club in existence" borrowed Corinthian players and played three exhibition matches in three years while the Crystal Palace Company toyed with the idea of starting a team.

There are two clubs: Crystal Palace 1861-76 and Crystal Palace 1905 to present day. Every football historian acknowledges this. The reason why Palace won't change the date on the badge is because it would be rejected by the FA. The affiliation with the FA stopped in 1876 when the team disbanded.
