as expected its been a hard year financially, overall made a £60m loss… some will be attributed to COVID, but then had we not sold AWB the year before we would have lost £45m, so were running on pretty similar terms to previous set really.

not great reading, granted but i can only assume the americans have put their hands in their pockets for this summer which should be applauded.

one thing is for sure, this new model the club seems to be working on will 100% be more sustainable than the previous one, and we should make good profit on all these signings to recoup these losses in the future.

Presumably the wages next year will be a lot less. Isn’t McGuire “ el presidente” on NSC?

i assume wages will be a bit less, these new signings new paying and were not done signing yet, i would predict maybe down to 80% from 93% but could be wrong.

yes maguire is a brighton fan, but also the rainman of football finance so i can look past his choice of club!

After all the contracts expired on June 30th we had save about 700k a week or 36m a year, obviously some contracts have been renewed and some new players bought but should be about half of last years

Yes glad to see us operating like the size of club we are rather than overpaying veterans and Parish gaining plaudits that won’t last that way from his fan club. It’s needed the Americans to provide cash flow and/or loans otherwise we’d be relegated next or more than likely the season pardew was overseeing 11 goals a match.

In the championship Parish said we’d need to recoup £5 mil per year in losses by selling players, so we’re back to that business strategy.

Parish's salary apparently reduced to just under a million. I must admit I saw his double in Aldi the other day buying some lettuce leaves, maybe he is on an economy drive? LOL

Wait for the next set with no fans at all for 12 months with all big player contracts still in place.
It could hit an £80m- £100m loss

The group are technically insolvent as their liabilities exceed assets and another fat loss will make the Balance Sheet look awful and one wonders where the money is coming from for all these new players that we are purchasing

As will every club in the premier league, even the big 6 who will lose much more than us. Spurs for example will be in a s*** state and as for all the clubs below the premier league.
There has been a global pandemic, look at any business on companies house and I reckon most would have been adversely effective the last 18 months.
We are actually fortunate that our match day revenue is a relatively small % of our turnover and tv money is at present the main difference between us and a large club in the championship.

These accounts only reflect half a season during the pandemic and the gate receipts were only down by £2m

Broadcasting revenue was down £12m and wages were increased substantially although much of that will be down to extending the financial year from the end of June until the end of July

good point, but I'm not sure there was a model previously, not being over-critical it's just the immediate needs can dominate ... "events dear boy" acc to Harold McMillan
