the best education has given our leaders the intellectual capacity to make these decisions for the better good of the world population.

I'd like to know how many current/ex-US/UK politicians have links to arms companies.

They all have links with the entire web comprised of a mix of Saudi Petro Dollars and Israeli influence through excessive Jewish dominance of key political and cultural institutions in the West.

Essentially a keystone of Saudi Foreign policy is about ensuring that Wabbism extremism is focused outside of its borders and from where is can essentially direct any anger that might be pointed at its ruling Royal Family outwards. Essentially promote the notion of global Jihad with Afghanistan the base from which that can be centered. I think the original plan was for that to happen in Syria, by way of IS, given that it would allow the Saudis to also pressurize Iran but that went horribly wrong when Assad refused to just roll over and Trump decided to wipe out IS (lets not forget that the West was actually supplying IS militants at one stage). This was one of the many reasons why Trump had to toppled. But this foreign policy aim of Saudi Arabia is documented fact, in place since 1947 with the US fully signed up.

Now when it comes to Israel, I must confess I am moving into more tin-foil hat territory but am now convinced that the end game of creating much of the recent turmoil and effectively opening the doors to mass Muslim migration into the West is down a long term plan to effect mass population transfer of Palestinian's into the West. I suspect the idea will be mooted within the next 10 years and will be couched as a humanitarian exercise. A politician will emerge, nominally considered anti-Israeli, who will issue an invite via the EU for Palestinians in Gaza City to be resettled in the West. Saudi Arabia will offer to fund much of it, or will do so by proxy via a charitable organisation. Killing two birds with one stone.

Israel does not give a hoot about Afganistan but needs to ensure that fundamental Islam is still a powerful force by way of continuing its disruption policy in the west to continue, helping to create the conditions that native populations are effectively so cowed by fears of being called racists that they will be able to have millions move away from their own borders, along with dealing with their fears about the Palestinians out-breeding them. The Muslim vote in Europe is already a factor and will only grow stronger as the years go by, meaning that mainstream politicians will be falling over themselves to garner favour. This population transfer will be seen as a vote winner along with ensuring, via Saudi funding of Mosques and 'education' programes, that they create their own voting bloc in the EU.

And after that...Isreal and Saudi do not care. Both nations are run by people who effectively see themselves as God's chosen people and both hold dismissive views of anybody not of their bloodlines. Such is the way of the world.

Essentially the West is caught between the most unholy alliance possible. Saudi and Israeli interests crashing into lives.

It's almost as if this was deliberately engineered so that Islamic extremism can actually be fully equipped with a whole host of Western goodies that can then be used to bring terror and mayhem to the very tax-payers who funded it all.

But that would just be paranoid thinking. Because of course, there must be a far more rational explanation for what is unfolding.

Biden blames Trump and visa verses for what is happening.
The president has done a runner and the Afghan troops were all bottle merchants who ran away from the fight.
The Russians couldn’t manage the country and nor can the West.
Leave them too it. The odd thing is if they ran their heroin crops like a business they could build a proper country with infrastructure schools etc. Problem is Taliban prefer to stone women and hang gays.
Just leave them to it.

Let's not forget that Biden broke the agreement that Trump had reached with the Taliban and he changed the date of withdrawn.

He played politics because he didn't want Trump to get any credit for ending that war......So he breaks the agreement the Taliban start attacking and because the Afghan troops know that they are on the losing side with no money they won't fight.

Now the Taliban have all their US funded military equipment......it's so incompetent that you couldn't make his up if it wasn't happening before us.

Everything Biden and the Democrats touch gets worse.

Is their army crumbling so quickly that I struggle with. My understanding was that the Afghan police were a complete farce, and often the cause of many a problem but that Afghan Army had performed pretty well on occasions. With its Special Forces in particular, even now, battling away with some limited success.

But for it to seemingly just implode in this way, that seems more than a little odd. From what I have read around the situation the Afghans did not expect the US to just up and go in the manner that it did. It seemed to be an almost deliberate abandonment that only really sent a single message that the Afghans were on their own now.

Wheels within wheels and Biden is clearly not in control of what has played out, given how much of an idiot he is being made to look over this.

Biden's drawn the Taliban out of their hidey holes and has them where he wants them. A cunning plan. Pretend to withdraw and then blammo. Well, probably in bed about 50 years ago.

It"s ironic that in the southern Trump states, they all want their "boys" bought home, have done for years, i got a republican friend in Alabama, she loves Trump and never stops posting about bringing the troops home- I might have to message her to ask is she going to send Sleepy Joe a bottle or two!

$88 billion down the drain for US involvement in building an Afghan army that's crumbled in a matter of days.

You would hope it would be a bipartisan effort to start an inquiry into the colossal waste of public money for this endeavour.

The next few weeks should be interesting to see what, if any, action is taken in the country.

Yeah, but this is Biden's baby, he broke Trump's agreement and did this withdrawn his way.

Maybe Trump would have screwed it up who knows....but Trump's gone.

But my point is that the Trump supporters will be happy with the troops home-and thats Bidens baby as you said- so theres the irony.

On news now, just 5 weeks ago Boris told the commons there was no viable route for a taliban victory-5 weeks ago!Either Boris got it very, very wrong, or the taliban are very clever at hiding their battle prowess!

Yep, while I think the handling of this has been highly incompetent, it's also true that the US and hence the west withdrawing was always inevitable whoever was in power.

There are wider issues here that go beyond Democrat or Republican and are about the nature and aims of US foreign policy.

Staying in Afghanistan for twenty years was nuts. It was a significant misreading of what was possible, which cost unnecessary lives and amazing levels of spending.

I'd say it isn't a left/right issue to say we need accountability and it doesn't matter what party they come from.
