I see that 538 has us as having a 40% relegation probability with a 15 % probability we are 20th, whilst not the 50% probility we had under frank de Boer , not exactly encouraging.

We obviously have a very tough start to the season and could only have a couple of points to our name by the end of September, and be in the relegation mix. The important thing is not to let that dent our confidence . Hopefully, we may give some of the big boys a bit of a run for their money even if we don't pick up any points ( more so than we did against Chelsea).

I believe there has been a general acceptance by supporters that this is going to be a challenging season. No money from any outgoing sales and we don't have the riches of some clubs, accordingly we cannot purchase a string of players at a substantial cost. However the hard reality is that should we get cut adrift of the pack and rather than flirting with relegation we are in the thick of the fight and one we don't look likely to win,I am not too sure that in such circumstances the Board will show patience towards Vieira. Here I disagree. It would be a complete kneejerk reaction to do again what happened to FdB. Patience is required. We are not made of money, but already I note that the new players look better than those that have left, so I think things will turn around for the good in time.

Well he is not going to be shown the door after 4 PL games! Supporters can call for patience etc etc, but in the final analysis, those who have invested millions are successful business people who will certainly not find relegation palatable!

Good news IMO is the new centre back pairing, they look solid. With Gallagher coming in the spine looks stronger than last season. I honestly believe if we give it time all will be good, we as fans need to try and be patient. COYP

Ask me in 10 games time, we should have a clearer indication of where we are heading. Our fixtures are very difficult to start with, whereas Brighton have had a nice start against Burnley and Watford. Stick them in against Man City and Chelsea and it will be a different story….
