He’s probably a cabaye type player. We’ve missed someone like this to keep possession and pass. Staggering how many footballers earning tens of thousands of pounds a week can't perform these skills, which one would assume to be the bare minimum for a player. Then more staggering how many of them seem to end up at Selhurst Park!

Im not sure why we have bought him, I can only assume as back-up. He may make the bench and perhaps the best thing he can hope for is a string of injuries.

Can't say I know much about him as a player, but from reading the Watford forum, it sounds like we've got ourselves a decent player here. Good on the ball, right attitude and touted as a future Watford captain. They seem gutted to have lost him. With him, Zaha, Gallagher, Olise, Eze, Riedewald we've got some technically good midfielders/attackers who should be able to create a few more chances.

I wish Will Hughes well. But in the bargain basement, I'd have thought Sissoko, for £3m (reportedly) the better buy. I thought Sissoko was on our radar for a while, but £20m, if Spurs was prepared to sell, was the quoted price. So Watford has sold Hughes, bought Sissoko and made £3m in the process. Fine.

He is experienced and only 26. Mobile, can pass and keep possession. Something our midfield has been lacking, I am happy with this signing, if proved wrong I will happily hold my hands up. I sincerely hope he is not written off by some before he has even played

How do you think the team would look with Hughes? And can you see Palace pushing for the top 10 with this side? I think 4-3-3 (Guaita, Mitchell, Guehi, Andersen, Ward, Gallagher, Hughes, Mcarthur, Zaha, Benteke, Olise)

I can really seeing him clicking with King Conor. It's great business - end of.
