Just a thought...

Maybe Fanatics could do a new verse relating to Palace and then keep the chorus...bit of both would work for me.

We are great at making songs of our own, but to be fair most of them are sung by other clubs in a different format, very few are originals.

Quite. Thus, "The Famous Alan Mullary..." song was a bizarre copy of a Celtic sectarian chant. And the "Palace Aces" song was a cringe-worth rip-off of Newcastle's iconic Blaydon Races. There may have been worse.

Wasn't originally theirs. Was sung by St Pauli fans first. I can live with borrowing a song from abroad but within the UK? We'd just be like every other fan base over here.

Never said it was. Went from St Pauli to Celtic to us. Star Man was also not our song. Football fans take and adapt songs so not sure why people are getting pissy about this one.

I think the chant sounds great. I've never heard that song used before, and it's really effective.

On the other hand...I'm not sure that I would really 'want to be Edouard', neither do I think 'he's already in me'. So as much as I like how it sounds, I'm not sure the words to it quite work.

Not only that, but the 'd' on the end of his name seems to be silent in French, as it is with names like 'Giroud'.

It would probably be better to come up with a song of our own anyway, and I wish I could think of something more original. I wanna, I wanna, I wanna but I can't.

Why over think it. Did AJ ever wear a "magic hat"?

Not a fan of stealing the exact version of other fans' songs. Everton fans singing Star Man for Andros has had my disrespect for them going up a few notches.

Based on the truth that the fella's name is pronounced "Ed-Oo-Ahh" and if we're happy stealing a tune rather than a song; how about using La Marseillaise?

Ooh ahh
Ooh ahh
Ooh ahh...Edd oo ahh.
Odsonne Edd oo ahh

When Manure fans attempt their boring Cantona version at Old Trafford in a couple of months, we'd already be singing our version with more energy than they could ever muster.

Nearly all the singing section in the Homesdale are crazy mental guys. They got big loud drums and like making lots of noise and jumping up and down.
We are known for our noise.
Marseillaise is choir music.
I wanna be Edouard is mental music
Drums jumping shouting. When he scores that’s what we will all be doing.

Seeing those lyrics first, I thought you were going with gina G's dance classic Ooh Ahh, Just a little bit,

Ed-Ooh-Ahh, Just a little bit
Ed-Ooh-Ahh, A little bit more!

The fact he has shown it at the press conference is a clue!

Sometimes it is worth doing this. Yes the Fanatics are original but the player knows the song and clearly loves it so who cares if we copy?

Alternatively B&W you come up with a better alternative then!

or he is telling us he wants to be loved which will be no problem if he scores 15+ goals this season. He will deserve his own song then

How about we wait and see if the player gives his all and produces the goods before considering how best for thousands of grown adults to serenade him?

I think a warm round of applause is sufficient welcome for any new player, personally.

You might argue Gallagher has already stolen quite a march if those are the criteria.

1. Why copy a chant and not come up with one of our own? Are we that unoriginal?

2. Why on God's green earth would you ever want to sing a chant originally sung by Celtic fans?

In fairness, as football chants go, it's very good

I get that but why not do both songs?
We are not here to pander entirely to the 'mental' whims and sometimes overly complicated tunes of the fanatics, love 'em as I do.
What about something the whole ground (granted, bar the Main Stand librarians) can sing?

Much to my frustration (and yours?) our most simple songs are the ones sung by more fans around the stadium than the more intricate ones. (Pretty sure they won't be many under 12s or over 40s singing the those)

Like I say, why not have both?

The bloke is French after all and it's high time we had a decent response to Manure's Cantona cr@p.

For the record, the away fans cannot hear the Fanatics singing. It's only when everyone else joins in that they have to take notice.
