But what you might do is put blame on others when you could get an FFP3 mask and know none of the other stuff matters to you and your loved ones. But let’s use it as a 21st century way to claim moral superiority while the opportunity is there rather than do something that is going to be certain of a result.

Rudi, do you have any data on how much better those masks are? I must confess I wasn't aware they offered so much more than other preventative steps.

95-97% protection for the wearer. Cloth masks anything from zero to 20% possibly. But that’s for other, allegedly. A one way mask you’re still at close to highest risk from infection. Hmmm.

Rudi, FFP masks are for dust. Even FFP3 will not stop a microbe. I'm not saying they are useless, but to eliminate the potential of contracting a virus, you need to do more than wear a FFP3 mask. A particle of dust that is filtered by these masks is at least 100 times larger than any germs known. It's like trying to stop water with a sieve. Masks are a crutch that helps people feel safe.

NHS staff have been wearing them in Covid ICU for 18 months.

That's deeply unconvincing to be honest. It's a partial vaccine that you take to protect you and, crucially (though you seem to miss the point) others.

I think all we fully know and understand about this virus to date is that by having the vaccine an individuals chances of becoming extremely ill is significantly reduced, information about the spreading load of both the vaccinated and unvaccinated is still inconclusive due to the shortness of time.

Cool. Nice profit for the manufacturer.

Like I said, it's a crutch for those who feel at risk. Research virus and microbe protection. You need to have a full biohazard suit, with personal respirator to eliminate risk of infection from microscopic organisms.

FFP3 masks are not only 'for dust' and claiming that NHS staff only wear them for 'profit for manufacturers' is an unfounded and irrational conspiracy theory. By your publicly stated views vaccines are 'unsafe' (including the one you yourself had) and FFP3 masks a a 'crutch' that makes little difference. Nobody said they eliminate risk, but there's certain more than enough out that to indicate that they significantly reduce it.

Wearing masks incorrectly can of course be a problem (though a perfectly avoidable one), though case in point there are multiple FFP3 'respirator' studies eliminating that issue which demonstrate a near if not 100% protection even in actual covid wards. A rather unusual level of success for something that apparently does very little.

Tho it's not a vaccine is it, scientists have already said it'll be impossible to achieve herd immunity due to the speed it mutates, it'll be a seasonal jab like the flu, it's not going anywhere, it's here to stay, if you're old or high risk and you don't get the jab then that's stupidity. I have a polio vaccine, I couldn't care less who else has it as I'm safe. Its been sensationalised by the press and has been politicised by governments. If it was as deadly as people make out you wouldn't have to bribe people to get it.

Tbh I do think enough time has passed now that anyone who wants to get vaccinated has been, so there is something to be said for people making up their own minds. That said, your statement in bold is odd. There is such a thing as community, and not only thinking about yourself. Obviously covid is a different animal, but surely polio was only all but wiped out due to uptake being so wide. Not just looking out for number one.

Anyway, back to the OP. This is a requirement from the Premier League, in advance of government legislation coming in at the end of September (announced back in July).

The one I can't understand is the (ELP) insistence on season tickets being on your phone rather than an physical ticket. Is this to do away with people sharing season tickets?

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

I have some sympathy with the clubs over sharing. I have no problem with somebody lending their ticket to a friend if they can't make the game we've all done it.

However if you take that to the extreme touts will be buying up scores of season tickets and then selling individual games whilst real fans would not be able to get a ticket.

Not an easy one to regulate.

I suspect, like everything it will have something to do with money.

I'd assume then season tickets all have to go through the official resell. Which would be a right pain, for anyone who shares season tickets....sure there will be a work around
