Eh, the vaccines reduce the spread?

What? Where is the evidence for that?

Common sense tells you that the vaccinated will mix more out of a sense of protection and actually transmit the virus more.

Hence more variants.

It’s a bizarre one alright. I was back in Ireland in July and had the same situation, plenty of tests going back to Ireland but entered Holyhead with not a question asked.

Bit ridiculous really! And ireland are still in lockdown even with 90 percent of adults vaccinated! (I am not one of them)

Sorry, just to be clear, you're unconvinced by the idea that a vaccine reduces the spread of the virus it's designed to protect against?

It reduces your chance of dying from the virus, I haven't heard about it reducing the chance of you transmitting the virus to others.

Vaccinated people mixing as though they are under no risk is obviously going to spread the virus and create more variants.

Yeah man! There's no need for testing going to the UK from Ireland as it's a common travel corridor!

But to return to Ireland I need a PCR test!

It's a focking pain and expensive too. Exacerbated by no one actually looking at them. I did it in May, was not checked. Then back from Denmark, was not checked. My tests in England were 90 Each, I think.

The vaccine reduces the chance of you getting COVID-19 from the virus.
If you’ve less chances of getting COVID-19, you’re less likely to be infected, so less likely to be transmitting it.

It reduces the risk of you getting seriously ill if you catch the virus, and it reduces the risk of you catching it. All the stats around the world are unanimous on that.

The vaccine appears to reduce the chances of you spreading the virus to others if you do happen to catch it, though that is an unintended bonus the extent of which is unclear at present, but of course it also reduces the risk of you spreading the virus simply by reducing the risk of you catching it. The less likely you are to catch it, the less likely you will be to be able to pass it on, hence the repeated point about the role of social responsibility.

I agree that vaccinated people mixing as if covid has disappeared is a potential risk, but that plainly poses far less risk than unvaccinated people mixing in the same fashion. For your argument to convince, it would surely have to be true that unvaccinated people are voluntarily staying away from social gatherings, but as can be seen from this thread about attending Palace matches, they aren't.

If I was serious about protection and safety I’d be wearing an FFP3 mask and would find it strange that some want to have all this nonsense and arguing when they could do the same and achieve a much higher level of safety.

Sorry Rudi, I'm not with you on this. Since you first raised the significance of FFP3 masks I've been trying to understand why, if they are so effective, they weren't mandatory as part of what was an unprecedented regulatory imposition on civil liberties during the main lockdowns. If they put such a dent in covid then why weren't they sent to every household (surely no more expensive than the testing kits)?

I do take the point that the quality of a face mask matters, and that focusing on one aspect of covid prevention to the detriment of others is illogical, but I think perhaps you're offering FFP3 as a silver bullet when it's a marginal gain at best.

Why do you place such faith in FFP3?

If you’ve less chances of getting the virus, you’re less likely to be infected, so less likely to be transmitting it.

The vaccine, mRNA is a genetic instruction to tell your body to make spike proteins, a part of the virus.

That's when a lot of side effects occur, understandably - your body doesn't want that in them.

So, when your body then produces trillions of these. These are also called pathogens. They float around your body, settle, enter a cell and then the cell then does its job, producing antibodies to beat said pathogen.

You then have antibodies to that one specific spike protein.

Trouble Is - everyone is different, genetically, so these spike proteins will differ, a variant to other peoples, in essence.

These trillions of pathogens are produced, some shed from the body, via sweat, salvia, body fluid, just like any normal virus and other people come into contact with others may ingest the pathogen. they then become infected.

Their body then reacts to that.

So, a jabbed person for a while is a walking pathogen/virus maker.

They don't even realize... they also don't even realize if they do come back into contact with it - as the vaccine reduced the effects.

This is why last year, no vaccines, one main strain. From December, vaccines were rolled out, and now look at the numbers. Israel, prime example. Just look at summer 2020 numbers to this summer - what was the only change?

The media censoring everything, the fact that people are turning on each other and blaming those that didn't... saying it's their fault.. was it their fault last year when it was 100% 'those people' with way lower numbers that now...

Now, 3rd booster, within 9 months, with hints of more...

the 8 billionaires created in the past year due to shares in the companies.

If someone cannot sit back and critically look at the past 18 months, see that was is happening is not making sense and the way to go, if they can see that governments don't really care about health... if they did fast-food would be banned... smoking and alcohol too, exercise would be mandated and they would be looking at all treatments available.

Yet people don't like a painful truth and would rather bury their heads in the 'majority' to feel validated and safer....

All this nonsense talk of killing your grandma... killing a neighbour, no one gave a flying eff previous flu seasons, no one gave an eff when driving home from the pub with one too many inside them, no one gave an eff watching people eat McDonalds, no one gave an eff until they were told their freedoms were gone, then they cared about their own freedoms - not others.

This was once a quality forum....

Fvcking hell. The corrupt, incompetent government that has no clue how to deal with this and has sent out so much conflicting, confusing information, alongside the right-wing media with owners pushing agendas and calling it 'news' has done an absolute number on the country hasn't it?

Throw in all the absolute garbage on social media that some take as fact, and you get this thread. Really strong opinions, when really, no-one knows what they're talking about to any scientific degree.

Surely, unless you're a conspiracy theorist or an utterly selfish, thoughtless pr1ck who likes to bang on about civil liberties, then if there is a highly contagious virus, that has killed millions - a plague in old money - then you take whatever steps you can to prevent the spread?

Or is everyone happy 'voting for the leopards eating faces party'?

You'll be forever in my family's memories and it was an honor and privilege to play and lead in the red and blue

How do you explain Israel then?

One of the highest levels of vaccinated people in the world and also the highest level of transmission?

The “vaccine passport” is the step to introduce digital social ID cards such as we see in China - it will do nothing to stop the spread of CV.
