Vaccine passports. A very slippery slope.

A slippery slope to what, businesses able to open up more freedom to do things, less jobs lost, less deaths, …

‘Reduces not eliminates.’ Great. Even better is the vaccinated person unaware they’re infecting people while possibly being habitually virtuous when doing so. This is so funny really. People wanting and demanding everyone is vaccinated to go in somewhere but they’re not really safe when they go in there, but they have had the vaccines.

Not many control or safety features are 100%, they reduce and in combination reduce to a level that is as low as reasonably practicable.
Vaccines are part of the solution, an asymptotic person vaccinated or unvaccinated can pass in the virus, but a vaccinated person is significantly less likely, if exposed, to catch the disease, so less likely to pass on the virus.

I personally think nearly everyone is going to get covid and it will depend on your age, health and/or own choice of whether you have the vaccine. Or we lock the whole world up with enough food for 2 months.

Does that mean shutting the hospitals for two months too, and the power stations, emergency services, safety staff at nuclear reactors, etc….

A slippery slope to more control and way over how we live and what we’re allowed. I’d be very concerned, especially with automation on the way.

I’m not against the vax. I’m against forcing or coercion. All this pointing the finger at a few people while you’re wearing a pointless rag when you could don an FFP3 mask is amusing really.

Yep, eliminating Covid and the zero covid aim is flawed, unless you fancy Australia or New Zealand. A high percentage or all of us will get it. Another thing that amuses me is the state of some people’s health yet they point the finger and shove responsibility onto others. I suppose it’s now on healthy people getting on with life rather than the NHS and government.

Some of the people in supermarkets who clearly don’t make any effort to stay healthy in their masks are my favourite. Packing their trolleys full of rubbish and unable to make a full stride because of all the blubber they’re carrying. See America’s covid problem due to obesity. People have known about this for 18 months and probably got fatter. Gotta laugh.

Thought this thread was about entry requirements to Selhurst Park re vaccinations etc? Isn't there a separate thread on 'Covid'?

Becky has already asked that this thread remain Palace relevant as there is already a general thread on Covid in the Bear Pit

Well when I go to see Palace I would very much appreciate
that those sitting around me are double jabbed or have recently tested negative. And I don't have a problem with the club enforcing that. Its not rocket science really.

Yep. And as for getting into games, it is what it is. What with the relentless racial hangups some on here have, and now hitting the panic button over this, I'm surprised they ever get in a position where they're able to genuinely enjoy a game to begin with.

I’m 54, just getting over COVID - tested positive 3 weeks ago despite being double jabbed..!!

Having been through it what I can tell you is that despite being double jabbed it’s still debilitating - the cough is a nightmare, strained all my stomach and back muscles, loss of taste and smell is horrible - you can also taste the virus - best way to describe it is it’s like bread on the turn - yeasty taste..!!

Then it’s the lethargy - you just have no energy - everything is a real effort - and when you do something simple like cutting the grass - you’re totally knackered..!!

My view of this is that this is a global pandemic - the only way out of it is initially vaccination - then once that’s complete/everyone that is prepared to accept the vaccination then you open up society knowing full well that even double vaccinated people like me will contract COVID - but that establishes “herd immunity” - which ultimately is the only way out of this.

Vaccinations as reported have limited immunity life spans - hence we’re looking at boosters - but what ever way you look at its a preventative patch rather than being a/the cure.

There’s an element of survival of the fittest - that’s the bit that IMO that isn’t being communicated and there’s still a long way to go..!!!

IMO - those not taking up vaccinations are not just putting themselves and others at risk but are also prolonging this process and our way out of this.

So after being offered a vaccination and then making a conscious decision not to to accept it then finding yourself disadvantaged - your choice led you to that position - so don’t moan/ bleat about it - you had/still have the choice..!!

This is a global pandemic that still has some time to run - until such time that herd immunity is attained.

In the immediate future, cases, hospitalisation and deaths will rise. Beyond that flu will become more of a problem as we move into the autumn - there’s been reduced social interaction over the last 18 months - so there will be new flu variants.

All this means we will probably see some restrictions reintroduced over the autumn months - forefront of which will be “COVID passports” - that much is clear..!!

Bottom line is that this has a way to run yet I’m afraid..!!

It seems to be a simple case of corporate greed. More people will come if it's deemed "safe". And if those people happen to be older people due to the vaccine roll-out, well, so what. Keep the shekels rolling in. It will be a case of "Get jabbed or stay at home" soon enough, just to keep the money piling up.

that's laughable..

the only BS is from people thinking this will all go away if they continue saying yes to the gov.

2 weeks to flatten the curve

one more mo th to save summer

one more month to save autumn

one more month to save christmas

ok, you can have Christmas off..

one more month to save spring

one more month to save summer

ok, freedom day... just gunna push that back

ok, here's ya freedom day, but with rules...

all the while..

let's jab the vulnerable

masks aren't needed

let's jab the adults

lets jab the workers

please wear masks

now wear two

lets jab the kids - no we don't advise that.... screw it we are

all the while...

no we would never do a passport...

ok we may need one

yeah we are using one...

it's just to make sure the hospitals are not over whelmed....

but what about those two massive nightingale hospitals you made...

oh we don't need those any more....

we just need herd immunity... that was 75% usually but now its 100%

jabs will make it all go away...

sir, Israel is on the phone...

oh and to keep it on topic.... the burgers at half time, the smoking area, the pop served before hand... they will contribute to more deaths that someone unjabbed in a stadium...

Oh I certainly agree that covid-19 will never go away no matter what we do to attempt to protect people. Realistically the best approach all along was likely to vaccinate say the over 50s (to cut down massively on those who would potentially be hospitalised) and 'hope for the best'. If people are getting on with life while vaccinated, and they do get covid it'll essentially act as a very potent booster anyway and most often won't be as bad as if they caught it while unvaccinated. Best of both worlds, son.
