Hopefully this will give him a kick up the arse and put some fire in his belly. When’s he’s in the mood he’s without doubt our best player.

Ouch. Good motivation though really, if he can snap himself out of grump mode.

Well he has been awful so far.

awful that he was a major part of both goals v west ham

awful that he created two great chances at home v Brentford that should have been goals

such an awful player i wish we would play one of the unproven youngsters that have never scored a goal in the premier league

think we could win the world cup with a team of 20 year olds...

I agree but unfortunately we do not have an alternative and he knows it so he is in the team irrespective of effort and performance

He really didn't. Just because he touched the ball somewhere in the lead up, doesn't mean he played a crucial role. Those were all Gallagher.

Wilf's been bang average for a while. Even the most passionate of fans can see that.

I doubt if he has been one of the worst 11 in the whole division this year, I’m sure he would be getting marked down because of how good the journalists think he should play.
But imagine if we’d just paid the money that parish has wanted for him (£40/50 mil) and the current Zaha turned up , zero pace, no interest and has done so little.
Honestly if we put him up for sale at £15 million I reckon we’d struggle to cash him. Worth more to us to try and liven him up and get him going again. But you shouldn’t start due to your name , first teams places need to be earned.

Didn't he get the pre-assist for both goals, so there is a contribution there. He did also create the best openings v Brentford - even on a bad day, we struggle to create anything without Wilf's influence, even if it is just carrying it up to pitch, drawing attention to him and then offering a quick release infield (as v West Ham).

No doubt his performance levels have declined significantly, but equally I think people overstate the decline - he's still far and away are most influential player in the final third, even in the opening games of this season.

This is so subjective (of course), but one thing is certain: he's just not performing to the potential he has and we know that he has.

Wouldn't it be great if he really does become aware of it and it acts as a wake-up call? Ball is well and truly in your court Wilf - play it man..

I suggest you take your rose-tinted specs off. His contribution to those 2 goals was no more important than those of Guehi, who drove forward, McArthur who found space in the box to receive a pass from Wilf and who provided the assist for Gallagher's second and Benteke who's firm downward header into a dangerous area enabled Gallagher to score the first. It's a team game and Wilf played a part in both goals but by no means a starring part IMO.

There is a reason Wilf has made it into the worst PL XI of the first 3 match rounds. It's because over the course of those 3 games he hasn't performed particularly well.

I do hope the penny will drop with Wilf that the position he is currently in (wanting away but no takers) is down purely to him, no one else. It would be great to see him playing at his best again to prove everyone wrong, but I'm not hopeful.

Comedy, I remember a load of palace melts saying he's made the right choice switching to ivory Coast and that he'll have a better chance of winning stuff with them.

Zaha and Pepe of Arsenal didn’t travel to Ivory Coast game because of COVID travel restrictions.

One thing that annoyed me about Wilf last season was how he never really celebrated goals with his team mates. But against West Ham, he was going crazy when Gallagher scored, which is a good sign.

We should have a lot of reinforcements in midfield coming soon, and I'm hoping that the new MFs will be able to get Wilf into the game more.

The loss of PVA hurt a bit, since he was always the best at linking up with Wilf on the left.
