I certainly agree that the press always sensationalise this kind of issue. It helps sell newspapers and online clicks.

I also agree that the social media companies need to act more decisively in removing offensive posts and banning those who post them.

There are those, including some who post here, who would argue the opposite and want there to be no moderation at all as to do so is, in their eyes, an infringement of the freedom of speech.

Just imagine the result of that!

Another daft statement.

There is no justification for the censorship of political opinions unless they incite violence. There are always grey areas, of course, but the kind of blatant suppression of legitimate concerns and promotion of a one sided agenda is unacceptable.
We have seen how violence from one demographic is tolerated while those opposing it are vilified and persecuted.

You are oblivious to all of this, of course.

Thank you WE for pointing out how silly I am for thinking that the BBC News was anything but a bastion of unbiased reporting.

I am mostly a reader on these boards and it's obvious that your superior 'knowledge' is to be respected.

But I must ask you who died and passed the baton of the Oracle to you ?

There is no censorship of political opinions, whether they incite violence, or not. There are standards and rules applied by the owners of some social media businesses. Which is their absolute right.

No-one has a right to plaster their political messaging on your walls. Only on their own, or somewhere which offers unrestricted access.

Only illegal acts are restricted by law. So when alternative platforms exist, every opinion has an outlet.

That does not make it right or balanced.

If you seriously claim that media outlets don't tell their target audience what they want to hear and often try to tell them how to think, then you are utterly bereft of any level of insight.

I didn't pass any comment on you. I don't know you. My comment was about the BBC and how both the left, and the right, think it is biased towards the other. The BBC does its best to meet its obligations to report things objectively and fairly, and to not respond to pressure from anyone.

That so many on the right get so wound up about it indicates it is doing a good job, given the political environment it currently faces.

It's the right of private media businesses, of all kinds, to decide for themselves how to respond to their target consumers. Ultimately, their purpose is, or ought to be, making money for their owners. Although Rupert Murdoch, Viscount Rothermere and Fred Barclay seem to have other ideas.

Unless you want to restrict everyone, with control resting in Whitehall, then you cannot restrict anyone.

You are swerving in a very transparent and rather embarrassing way.

Their 'right' is not the issue.

But the BBC is publicly funded and as such is expected to uphold standards of balance and unbiased reporting
which on many occasions recently it has not.

Privately funded outlets can report virtually anything they like eg Daily Mirror or Daily Express

BBC DG Tim Davies says they hire across the political spectrum when defending the appointment of a Remainer BLM supporter to a senior position in the news division.

Which spectrum is that Tim? From the far left to the centre left?

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

He actually went on to say that he didn't know of any Brexit supporters at the BBC because they don't discuss that.

You can't have it both ways Tim one moment you are saying the BBC hires across the political spectrum the next you are saying you have no idea what people's views are, which is it?
