First PL game ever that Kane has had no shots and no touches in opposition box. Wonder if media will pick up on that? Perhaps had he not been complaining all game he might have remembered why he was there

Not sure they would have joined a Roy team and not sure he would have wanted them

Just got back home after the game and for the first time in a very long time I’m very happy with a win and the performance. It was exciting, high tempo and a pleasure to watch, it’s like PV has taken the handbrake off.
Not having a dig at Roy he did what he did and kept us in the premier league, but his teams were very pedestrian where as this team played with lots of energy. I know one game does not a season make, however I feel I’ve got my mojo back, think I’m going to enjoy the ride.

I have not felt so optimistic after watching a match in many years.

The new centre backs are fantastic together and give a real calm to the back 4, and you can see how this has transformed Mitchell.

Zaha looked like he has finally stopped stropping and maybe he can achieve European football by staying with us.

Gallagher is a fantastic addition add looks like he will go on to bigger and better things. McCarthur brings the experience and even Luka managed a wonder pass when he came on that I never knew he had in him.

Edouard looks like he could be what we have been missing for years, a natural goalscorer and Olise showed glimpses of his class even within a few minutes of coming on.

With Eze and Ferguson in the wings and a very strong bench I really think we could have a great season and top 8 is certainly possible.

Cant wait to see how we play next week. Will be a big test, but I think we will give them a good game.

Some people are like Slinkies … not really good for anything, but you can’t help smiling when you see one tumble down the stairs.

So indulge me - you seriously think Ward at this stage of his career (I’ve already accepted that he has previously been a great servant) is a premiership standard right back..??

Beyond that given the class and ability we now have in the squad - he is at that level and tell me how and why..??

Simple question just needs a simple answer..!!

I’ll freely admit I think Ward is way passed his best, and has been for a few seasons and that we should have replaced him in the summer - in fact should have replaced him the moment AWB left - that’s what 2 seasons ago..!!

Let’s be honest - he wasn’t good enough when AWB came into the side as an unproven youngster - now all of a sudden what 4 seasons later and 4 years older in a much better squad he’s at that/this level - do me a favour..!!

But football is all about opinion and this site is about reasoned debate so from that perspective within reason everyone’s point of view is valid..!!

I’ll leave it with I’ll guarantee if Ward remains in situ (which he won’t) he’ll cost us far more than he will benefit us and will become a liability - if he isn’t that already..!!
