can we move this thread to news/politics or even better have a new topic area - 'tit for tw*t' talk, or 'saddo fencing' talk so every time a thread degenerates into a personal slanging match, esp if it's in a left/right context, it goes to that dark, smelly recess only a few regulars are drawn to?

And as for the aforementioned inappropriateness, I'm reminded of French and Saunders' impersonation of the two dirty old men, nothing sinister, just a bit naff and ridiculous. So well done Emma, by far the most interesting thing ever to have come out of Bromley.

Anyway, back to tennis.... Perhaps a statement of the obvious, but Emma Raducanu hasn't won a professional tennis match other than at this year's Wimbledon or the US Open, yet she reached the last 16 of the former and is champion of the latter. Absolutely incredible.

It’s accepted it was a fantastic achievement from an unknown British girl. What I found very impressive, was her acceptance speech. Obviously well educated, didn’t show any nerves in front of a huge crowd and shown to millions all around the world. I doubt if she would of had any sort of training for that.

Yes, and talented outside the court, when she went in to a whole chapter in mandarin to talk to her family back home, I must confess, I had a tear in my eye! Beautuful Emma, just beautiful.
