I hate hearing that term used by some people, this country can not match going abroad.

Isn't it colloquially called 'Britain in the sun'. Or something like that?

My issue with 'staycations' is cost. Massively inflated at present. The saying 'you get what you pay for' is not true in this instance.
One little tip for you all is: Dublin hotels really cheap at present. If you fancy a visit. No one going there on stags and hens or for much at all really. Literally a quarter of the price than in the west of Ireland. Beware though - pints at least 6.50 and you need vaccine code and mask to go anywhere plus it's all still socially distanced. I can't stand Dublin but worth going if you've never been. There are two Wetherspoons these days, with hotels. I think pints there 3.70 or so but turn up early. Fond of the auld drink some of the locals.

My issues are firstly the weather which isn't guaranteed unlike Continental Europe and secondly service as pubs and restaurants open in the UK to suit themselves and not the customers

Everyones different. Some would practically fall apart without their foreign holidays, others love to explore the UK. Horses for courses as they say!

Weirdest place I've ever been too.

We colonized a tiny tip of Spain.....such a mishmash, didn't really feel all that comfortable there.

We should do what the French do and classify overseas territories as actually part of the country. Hence Reunion and other such places are legally part of France and any flight there is classified as an internal flight.

hats off to palace, they were always gonna be louder, and hate to say it but they were impressive ALL bouncing and singing.

Was stationed in Gib years ago, been back a few times, lovely place. If you want something totally different, try this floating palace . . .

I went away to Kilkenny on a long weekend with dinner etc. The service was awful and I got refunded quite a bit in the end. There were problems after problems. Just couldn't help but complain. The list just wouldn't fit here.
Kilkenny worth it for perhaps a weekend, not much more. Avoid a certain hotel on the river. Nice location, poor service.

The government tried but Branson bought them all.
