He certainly didn't appear to be on Saturday.

He's a player now on what his 4th loan? He plays the game in every sense. Conclude nothing from his pro Palace purring.

The fact it's his 4th loan tells you all you need to know.

I don’t think anyone was suggesting that he is a lifelong Palace supporter. Only that there is no evidence that he is “Chelsea through and through” and plenty of evidence that he is very happy playing for Palace.

Correct!

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

It tells you he is a talented young player who is seen as a longer term prospect by the European Champions.

What does it tell us, seeing as we’ve all missed it, apart from you?

That he may be all Chelsea but chelsea may not be all Gallagher. I just think we really do stand a chance of taking him off their hands, he just needs to fall in love with the club. Which should be easy enough.

Chelsea are awash with top midfielders. We may just get lucky and if he wants to join us get him for say 25m. If he enjoys being too dog at Palace that’s much better than fringe at Chelsea especially if we are in Europe.

Agree. Read an article last week that Chelsea had singed another midfielder from Barca or Real that pushed Connor further down the depth chart. It may be we finally get lucky…

If he helps get us into europe as a star of the team, which is better, playing every week in front of the best fans in london or being a bit player at Chelsea getting a dozen games a season?

When he came he was clear that it was a stepping stone to first team at Chelsea where he has been forever. His idol is Lampard. He is a Chelsea fan he doesn't just belong to them

There's your evidence. This is of course quite compatible with his being happy at Palace but I sense a certain amount of delusion in thinking that he might regard us as a terminus and not a stepping stone.

Problem is if that scenario happened it would not be his choice, it would be Chelsea's. The old dilemma with loans. If they're pony the owning club say make us an offer. If they're top dog, the owning club say give him back. Thus, they need to be good... but not THAT good.

Hopefully he'll be cr@p for a bit!
