While I think the US and indeed the west were completely justified and compelled to go after IS and indeed not stop until Bin Laden was dead I think any criticisms after that are hard to criticise. Nation building should never have been part of that. Yes, the Taliban were part of what had to be punished, however essentially Afghanistan and Iraq were on the 'doable' list....especially Iraq. When you look at where radical Islam exists it's in pakistan and Saudi. Pressure on Saudi has arguably been effective as IS are no friends of the house of Saud. With pakistan however, they are famously duplicitous and two faced as their intelligence agencies are effectively their own government and work with terror groups as an offshoot of the India/Kashmir conflict....In Afghanistan they were responsible for many an allied death. The reason Iraq got it and they didn't was much more to do with the possible rather than a proportional response to anti western Islamic terrorism. Yes, it's not really reasonable to imagine that post 9/11 the reaction would be 'nothing', or measured. I feel though that in classic 'never let a good crisis go to waste' style, their country wide surveillance policy at home and national building abroad essentially acted to the detriment of tens of millions of people who had nothing to do with any of this. And many of those more closely linked to funding radical Islam get away with it on account that they're politically positioned in a way that makes it difficult to do much about it.

As much as the media control the narrative, it's hard not to see that for some the ancient saying from Thucydides that, ‘the strong do what they will and the weak suffer what they must’ remains as true today....in some ways, as it did back then.

Certainly, unfortunately I don't see it changing. If anything all we ever have as the man on the street is hopes for our own particular version of the better day that never comes. Life is best lived on a local level really, because the further beyond that we go the less influence we have. Family, friends, local community, charity. Beyond that, good luck!

The event is being reported on somewhat with no criticism of Biden whatsoever. With Trump it would be front page news and he would have a Nazi moustache drawn on his face.
