It’s horses for courses though isn’t it. Some games Hughes will be a better option, some games it’ll be Luka where we need more steel.

Who’s getting dropped out of Gallagher, MacArthur , Kouyate ?

My guess is that if its the starting line up then Kouyate will be moved to the bench, if its after 60 or 70 minutes then it will be Jimmy Mac substituted.

Anyone notice in the Sky football news report that their reporter Ron Walker twice mentioned crosses by Martin Kelly when he never got off the bench. You couldn't make it up - well he obviously did. I wonder if he actually watched the match?

I am determined to live until I am as old as I look.

There were encouraging aspects to our play yesterday but again we failed to score for the third time in the five games we have played.
It’s early days, but we can’t continue with this sort of rate of return to get points on the board.
In my view Ayew and Benteke as two of a front three will not score enough goals, particularly with the style Vieira is trying to implement.
We have to hope that Edouard will contribute, that Eze and Olise will provide more creative spark and that midfielders other Gallagher will chip in with a few goals.

I agree that Ayew and Benteke have to be phased out for Olise and Edoaurd, think pretty much everyone would say that at this point.

However, I don't think the scoring situation is as bad you say. We've scored 5 goals, the 10th highest total in the league, and two of the games we drew a blank were away to Chelsea and Liverpool, title contenders who have conceded a single goal each. Even Brentford are clearly no mugs this season and have only conceded twice.

We've had an incredibly tough start to the season and, despite missing key players, we're still clear of the bottom three so I've got no worries about us at the moment. Hopefully we put a beating on Brighton on Monday week.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

Yep completely agree. Phasing them both in is clearly the plan and a sensible one at that. Now they've got some minutes under their belt I fully expect that at least one of them will be starting the next game.

Considering the incredibly tough start to the season we've had fixtures wise I feel really positive about our performances considering the wholesale changes made in the summer.

Yesterday was a very harsh scoreline and we were unlucky not to score. Hopefully this gives us even more determination and focus going into the next BIG game!

On another note. How on earth did Milner manage to escape getting booked in yesterday's game!?

Our players battled hard for 75 minutes. Liverpool was starting to hang back. We were starting to apply pressure. It was feeling like we were going to have a few chances to tie the game.

The Riedewald comes in, and a minute later, he inexplicably forgets to cover Salah. 2-0. Game over.

After that, Riedewald tried hard. But I'm sorry, he blew any chance we had. Not good enough. We have a glut of players that can play ahead of him, he goes to the end of the line after that performance today.

Yes sadly if you switch off for 1 sec players like Salah will take them fine lines, I was surprised at Jairo coming on ahead of Hughes but , Edouard missed 2 good chances Wilf and Teke should have done better with there's, a mistake by Jairo didn't cost us the match our finishing did, and all 3 goals wasn't dealt with very well 2 back post and a keeper who cant catch, so theres more than 1 guilty party in there goals, but i still liked what i saw

Liverpool fans are posting similar. 3 - 0 flattered them we played well but they deserved the 3 points.

The final scoreline was disappointing given that Palace put in a far more assertive and competitive performance than in recent times at Anfield.

But the defending at set pieces didn't reach the standard required at this level. I'm sure that will get the coaching teams attention.

Overall though, the players are adjusting well to the new style of play. It may have been the same result as at Chelsea but I thought a vast improvement in how we played.

I have to pass comment on the referee - a cowardly performance.

Yes, some very flattering comments from them. We gave them a good game, best Palace side for a long time, play better now than under Roy etc etc.

However, a lot of less than favourable comments about Wilf, mostly about the amount of time he spent falling over.

Anyway, generally good natured and well meaning so, good for them.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

I was unable to listen or watch a stream yesterday and so had to be content with MoD this morning.
I thought that Benteke hit the woodwork?
Also for their second goal Wilf was fouled first but nothing given and immediately Mitchell makes a good tackle they get a free kick and bang - 2-0!
It seems the result was a lucky 3-0 but we have to take our chances when they come.
Reidewald at fault for 2 goals but why bring him on - poor sub in my opinion.
Never expected to win yesterday but pleased we have a good account of ourselves.

If Milner played for Palace he'd be booked/sent off every week but he plays for Liverpool, therefore gets a free pass from biased corrupt referees..
