Terrible for him. If sadly it is his knee I think he’s going to face up to the fact his career looks like it may be finished

I read it was his hamstring.

I was on the PNE forum to see their reactions and there was a mix of fans believing Connor grabbed his hamstring and others claiming his knee had gone.
It was a bout a 50/50 split.
Anyway, Connor did walk off the pitch under his own steam. It wasn't a stretcher job.

Not sure you can blame him. He did not get injured on purpose and was it his fault he was still under contract? Would you give up a contract in these circumstances?

Who said I blamed him for getting injured? I said he has got away with murder earning a living from something that he can’t actually do. I couldn’t give a monkeys bum how much or how little he gets paid. I am stating a fact that he is fortunate that clubs keep giving him contracts while it is plain to see he is finished as a football player.

If nothing else the club have been vindicated in not giving him a new contract. Especially his little moan on Instagram about being ready and fit for the season.

I know the money helps, but how the guy can be bothered to keep trying is beyond me

You have to feel for him. He's a professional footballer who just wants to play the game he loves to the best of his ability.

The fact that he is prevented from playing by chronic injury problems is well outside his control. Forget the physical issues, which are bad enough, the mental side of it must be leaving him distraught.

It does now seem that he has to recognise the fact that, at his age, he is unlikely to come back into the game at a reasonably high level sufficient to make a living at it. Would be quite remarkable if he did.

Call it a day Connor, hang up your boots and use your intelligence to embark on a fresh career. Good luck to you, whatever you do.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Nice post. Everyone here slates the BBS but the posters there are far more sympathetic to his plight than the HOL hate brigade

Yep, does seem a bit like that Midlands. No wonder Willo called it quits!

Poor fella. Hope it's not too bad for him but it doesn't seem like his body can handle it anymore.

Hope he has a quick recovery and maybe time to register for his coaching badges.

At least he should be okay financially. Assuming he's been sensible with his cash.

Good luck to him.
I just really hope Eze isn't as delicate.

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything.

Not so sure, im not knocking him in any way, but, to answer your Q?(ish), the amount of times i saw him on a plane flying to Tenerife or on the island around Costa Adeje whilst he was injured with us, he had a huge 'entourage' with him, mostly family but lots of friends, it all costs money. Like you, i hope to god he has got some stashed away, coz reckon he's gonna need it, sooner rather than later.

C'mon people let's worry about our own finances in these tough times, rather than fret about some overpaid footballer, who has got way more out of the game than he has put in.
I'm not going to lie awake at night worrying about whether Bentley-driving Connor Wickham has made canny investments during his career.
He made more money per week for multiple years than most people on here earn annually by actually working!
And you are on here earnestly concerned Connor has enough put away.
Unbelievable!
Catch yourselves on folks.
