You used yourself as an example, then asked me a question about said experience, and then accuse me of focusing on you? Seriously?

Can you explain how I have stereotyped anyone or put them in a box?

Nope, upon reflection I think I probably extrapolated too much on my response, fair enough.

it’s interesting that your upbringing went that way and your views have ended up where they are - it’s hardly ridiculous to think there is a correlation between the two.

There is certainly a correlation between the two, raw practical experience leads to knowledge.

However, there is a lot more to it than most realise, such as why decisions were taken and who takes the brunt of them.

But anyway, fair response.

Whilst working in pakistan I undertook a field trip in the depths of Mirpur, together with a Welsh Colleague. We were in a compound of a house talking to a female inhabitant ( only allowed as our interpreter was female). A chap appeared at the gate and asked in the broadest Brummie accent “What’s going on here lads?” Said colleague “we are minding our own business” Brummie thought this was hilarious had a good chuckle, wished us well and went on his way.

Ha ha, can just picture Barry from auf wiedersien playing that part!

i see mention of Stephen Lawrence above.

Why was he murdered by a drugs gang ?

we are told its only cos he was black......living in a largely black neighbourhood.

so why did that drugs gang kill him of all people ?

Go onto the 'New Shopper' ..... read the comments under the news article...from all the local people.

Perhaps he was murdered in a largely white area, Eltham, on his way home?

Norris was caught on police surveillance stating:

"If I was going to kill myself do you know what I'd do? I'd go and kill every black, every P***, every mug, every copper that I know.

“I'd go down to Catford and places like that with two submachine guns and I'm telling you I'd take one of them. Skin the black alive, mate. Torture him, set him alight.

“I'd blow their two legs and arms off and say: ‘Go on, you can swim home now.”

He had also previously shouted n***** when throwing a drink at an off duty police officer down the same street that Lawrence was murdered, and linked to previous knife attacks. Even in the weeks previous another black teenager and his white girlfriend claimed that they had been approached by Dobson and Neil and that they brandished a knife.

Proving something was a racist attack clearly isn't a formality, though the version of events of the person with Lawrence (who says he was called a racial slut before being attacked) very much tallies with what is known about the attackers characters and behaviour. What looks like inferring that either Lawrence was looking to buy drugs or got on the wrong side of drug dealers so they killed him would need 'something' to back it up. Do you know something that points towards this being what happened?

Story I've heard is that it was a revenge attack, Steven Lawrence's friend sexually assaulted a girl and they went to attack him, he was with Steven Lawrence, the friend got away they got Steven Lawrence and killed him, whether it's true or not who knows. I'm sure they did use racial slurs when they killed him but it definitely wasn't a random racist attack.

'story i've heard' and 'definitely wasn't' aren't a good fit. Of course anyone murdered for any reason is terrible (race related or otherwise), but just because this event is culturally viewed in a specific way it doesn't follow that we have to counter it with versions of events that hold far less weight than what is already known about those involved. So far we've had a drug deal gone bad type scanario, and getting targeted because the mate sexually assaulted someones gf. Some of those involved in the attack have form for both extremely racist, as well as violent behaviour. We don't need to contrive or believe versions of events where the victim or victims somehow simply had to be in part responsible for the events of that night when there is zero proof of that.

We can use common sense tho, it's rare enough for one person to randomly murder someone but to find 5 people capable of going out and killing someone just for the colour of their skin is near enough impossible. Why would a group of drug dealers decide to randomly go out and kill someone ?

I suppose that your logic here is that because many Palace players are black there is no racism in football? I think you know that this is an argument so weak it might have trouble standing up.

Suppose I were to say that as many people of colour work in the NHS this is clear evidence that the organisation is free of racism and that they will not have experienced prejudice and discrimination. Just because people are employed does not mean that they will be able to work untroubled by discrimination.

The generation of workers that were actively recruited by the NHS and London Transport to come and work in the UK have and still do experience racism every daily. If you speak to them they will tell you what they are experiencing, is that not sufficient evidence that racism continues to be a problem in our society?

Name me a multicultural/racial society that has ever existed that doesn't have 'racism' claims.

Most racism claims are subjectivity.....a display of power structures. No one who isn't white can get treated badly without it apparently being for racist reasons.

The only societies that don't have 'racism' claims are homogeneous ones.

No idea if they were a drugs gang, maybe anyone selling a bit of weed can call themselves a drug dealer, they were certainly low life!
